SPACEX PLANS MOON FACTORIES POWERED BY HUMANOID ROBOTS

With a hat tip to the “don’t read this article” screencap, naturally I went and read the article I’ve had issues with this New Yorker author’s stuff but this piece honestly is fine (except for the obnoxious Thomas-Friedman-esque label used to describe underpaid college-educated millennials)

It also should not be overlooked that Davey Hearn is one of several defendants who were baselessly prosecuted as a direct consequence of Donald Trump's personal insistence, and at least one of the defendants was a federal contractor who lost his job bc of it washingtonian.com/2026/08/03/p...

How much money would you have to be paid to be sorted into a norovirus vaccine challenge trial? If you’re sorted into the placebo group, you have a ~50% chance of contracting norovirus 12–72 hours after inoculation, and symptoms last 2–3 days (If you’re in the vax group, likelihood is unknown)

Vaxart actually tested their monovalent AAV-based norovirus vaccine in a Phase-2 challenge study About half of inoculated unvaxxed cohort got sick AFAICT the compensation terms for participants were confidential cdn.clinicaltrials.gov/large-docs/6... clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT052...

Two things: 1) This doesn't mean mRNA-1403 doesn't work. In an earnings call, Moderna said the trial remains blinded, but they're enrolling a new cohort bc there haven't been enough norovirus infections among participants to reach a statistically significant result clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT065...

No early success for Moderna’s norovirus vaccine in phase 3 trial The vaccine maker said its investigational mRNA norovirus vaccine did not meet statistical criteria for early success. Read more: https://bit.ly/3TEgD8Y 📷: CDC/Alissa Eckert

We're all inured to Trump's impunity by now, but ordering a prosector to being criminal process & jeopardy of criminal punishment against a person with no reasonable basis is objectively impeachable corruption, and this is like the sixth time Trump has done it

A few minutes ago to press: *TRUMP, ASKED ON PIRRO: SHE MADE A MISTAKE *TRUMP ON REFLECTING POOL ISSUES: THE CONTRACTOR WAS RUSHING *TRUMP ON PIRRO: I THINK SHE CHOKED CNN just now: edition.cnn.com/2026/08/03/p...

This “settlement” just got flamed by a trial court, but a main theme of Trump2.0 is trial courts see Trump2.0 for what it is, while other sources of accountability including members of congress, courts of appeals & SCOTUS, and flagship journalism have deemphasized, obfuscated, and dissembled

But perhaps the most startling misstatement advanced by Plaintiffs is their
characterization of this case as "ordinary." (DE 89 at 9). The Parties here are not private
actors to a mine-run dispute, recounting their proficiency in the art of the deal they
negotiated. Lead Plaintiff and Defendants are public servants-the pinnacle of the Executive Branch-sworn to uphold the law, faithfully perform the duties of their office,
and protect the interests of the American public. The issue before the Court is whether,
instead, they ignored ethical norms, court rules, and legal authority to manipulate the
judicial process.
The issue is whether they did so to gild their efforts to gain
unprecedented access to the public fisc with the patina of legitimacy. There is nothing
"ordinary" about this case; it is the very definition of sui generis. 2 Plaintiffs also—with no apparent sense of irony-criticize the non-party movants' political motivations, their previous disinterest in the case, and their purported inappropriate promotion of "abstract grievance[s]." FLAG: Trump gets to keep tax immunity for himself, his sons, and the Trump Organization under the new 'deal' struck by Todd Blanche. The new order also reaffirms that Trump won't have to pay any taxes he might have owed the IRS.

The world-record parking deck is on-the-merits the worst part of the Trump-trademark unnecessary, stupid, self-aggrandizing meddling in a big public project, but I can't sleep on his criminal insistence on ruining Eero Saarinen's iconic ticketing area, which is the one Great Thing about Dulles

One part of Trump's $22 billion makeover of Dulles that's been missed is his big, beautiful, world-record 32,000-spot parking garage. That's *way* more parking than recent estimates show the airport needs, and it would tower over the historic terminal: www.notus.org/metro/dulles...

There are many problems with this NYT framing & reporting, but this paragraph in particular is bizarre First, the case wasn’t in federal court it was in DC court—how did this get past an editor? Second, this framing of the USAO’s motion is a crazy level of editorializing?

Ms. Piro's filing is, in a sense, an effort to replace the case against Mr. Hearn in federal court with a case in the court of public opinion against Mr. Burgum; the contractor, Atlantic Industrial Coatings; and Park Police officials.
In the filing, she said that her staff relied almost exclusively on claims by Interior Department officials that the extensive damage to the lining of the pool was caused by Mr. Hearn and other vandals who were observed tugging at or removing pieces of material from the wall.

Another example of the problem with the fixation with Trump’s putative emotions: here a story about the Trump administration’s corruption, incompetence, and venality is framed as one about Trump’s “wrath.” www.nytimes.com/2026/08/01/u...

I obviously must reserve judgment, but the fact that this complaint is coming from the Chief of Police on behalf of himself and St. Paul PD in the immediate wake of the mayor trying to cut police overtime pay, and that he’s aggressively demanding a full clone of her phone, makes it look calculated
