Well the good-ish news is that it looks like the firefighter didn’t pull enough votes & partly bc apparently he lied & said he wasn’t responding to the Spokane fires bc he was at a funeral, but was then caught campaigning IN Spokane during the fires instead of providing assistance to the community

I got a little emotional seeing the parade of cars lined up to drop ballots for a primary, especially with the fires still burning here, but I’m a little worried the timing of the fires may tip our primary in the wrong direction bc one of the unsafe candidates is a firefighter :-(

For people who don’t understand the context of how urban these fires are, here’s a side by side of the fire map & the map of Spokane (all of the grey is neighborhoods). At least 100 more homes & structures have burned in the last day bringing the count to over 700 & the fires are still 0% contained

Spokane is on fire and they’ve had to ground all airport because FUCKING CUNTS are flying drones over the fires trying to get footage and I stg I wish catastrophic debt on all of them

When my house in Spokane caught fire a few yrs ago, displacing my family for a yr, the INW Red Cross showed up & ensuring we had shelter & out immediate needs covered until my insurance could take over. They are on the ground in Spokane doing the same for my community now. You can help here:

The fact that every single person is accounted for and was safely evacuated with how fast this spread is a testament to the community we have here.

The shelter that I have been fostering Taylor through is the lead agency in providing emergency boarding, medical care, food, & other supplies to all of the pets impacted by the fires that are currently ravaging Spokane. If you’d like to support them in this effort, you can donate at spokanimal.org

This lil dude is lowkey an emotional terrorist giving me this face like “Please don’t bring the leash to make me go outside to go potty” but like it’s been 2 weeks he still won’t go out on his own & will hold it until he has an accident 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just saw this in one of my community groups. Even amidst evacuating the fires that are currently ravaging our city band all of the chaos, people are still trying to get their ballots in. We are not playing about these midterms here & trying to primary our shitty congressional rep 🥰

Feeling relieved this evening. As I evacuated yesterday evening, I grabbed my ballot, signed and sealed. I was so worried it would get lost in the shuffle and I knew my usual ballot drop-off at the library on Indian Trails would be a challenge. After spending hours in Airway Heights, back to the house to grab a few more things, back to Airway Heights and finally to my daughter's in Liberty Lake for what remained of the night, I kept it front and center. Today I dropped at the box at the Liberty Lake Library. I'm so grateful for our libraries having the boxes. Sadly, my granddaughter's disappeared and she'll have to go online to print a new one.

It’s feeling creepily dystopian AF right now to hear the ice cream man cruising my neighborhood with his happy music blaring while 600+ homes have been destroyed, 5000 more are under evacuation order, around 40,000 people are currently displaced & fires are 0% contained on the other side of town.

Ngl, I don’t love seeing things in my city being scary enough for Aaron Parnas to make a video about it, but I do love how quickly my old boss started mobilizing my WA Air National Guard fam from both wings to come help get people to safety.

A FB post from The Adjutant General of the Washington National Guard stating:
We are rapidly mobilizing units of the Washington National Guard tonight to help assist the City of Spokane and Spokane County with their horrific wildfire situation. Specifically, I've mobilized our 141st Security Forces Squadron from Fairchild AFB and our 194th Security Forces Squadron from Camp Murray to be on scene and available to assist local first responders in Spokane with evacuation responsibilities and traffic control tomorrow. The Washington National Guard is making 30 members available tonight to Spokane authorities for any emerging needs. We're also pulling together a general purpose manpower pool that can be made immediately available to local authorities as additional requirements emerge over the coming days. The Washington National Guard is all in on this fight.

A dangerous wind shift (visible on radar imagery) has just occurred in #Spokane, WA, where major wildfire disaster is currently unfolding. Three separate major fires (circled) near or within city limits have already caused major structure loss & chaotic, expanding evacs. #WAwx

I still haven’t gotten him all the way outside to go to the bathroom without the leash yet, BUT he did just run from the couch all the way to the back door without the leash before he got scared & ran back to his safe spot on my bed.

I just learned that removing the fallopian tubes reduces the most risk of ovarian cancer & there’s something so poetic about cancer risk being reduced the most when you remove the part of the reproductive system named after a man 🤣😂

Taylor win for the day is he’s been hanging out ON THE COUCH! It’s the 1st day he wasn’t on my bed all day. Since he has refused to go up there willingly, we put his crate up there after his checkup at the vet & let him out on it. I expected him to jump off & run straight to my bed, but he stayed!!

Proof Taylor has a belly button (IYKYK🫶🏼) jk. But really this is the first time he’s been relaxed enough to lay with his belly out instead of laying on it or balled up like an armadillo to protect it. He’s still got a LONG way to go but we’re celebrating any little signs that he might feel safer 🥰

Taylor: 1 Leash: 0 He really said fuck that leash when we were trying to hold him to get a dingleberry off his booty & got the leash at the right angle to chew it in half in like 3 seconds & run into the house instead. 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ At least he runs into the house instead of away tho

Tater Taylor just barked for the first time since we’ve had him! Granted it was at me when I was trying to put his leash on, but I’m glad he did that instead of biting so a win is a win. I can’t stop laughing at myself tho bc I said “thank you for using your words” like he’s someones feral toddler🤣😂

I’m guessing he was tied up or yanked a lot, bc Taylor’s #1 fear biting trigger is the leash so we have to be sneaky & he normally fights if we try to take him anywhere besides the backyard to go 💩, but today we finally got him to go out the front to go for a trot around the block.

My kid just came across this pic from the time her high school health sciences class was going to teach them to draw blood on fake arms & she was nervous so I taught her on myself the night before, since I learned on a person in medic school too & she got it on the first try. #random
