🇮🇹🇪🇺 Just a bland grumpy nerd, often rambling. Knows little about a lot of things. Likes planes, cars, computers, vintage tech, [film] photography. Jack of all trades, master of none. I made @randomfoodphotos.bsky.social, if you're looking for a culprit
I have a flight to the US in a few days and suddenly @deviantollam.bsky.social posts this. On a completely unrelated note, I just fished out of a drawer my old moto g30.
This week's video might be a bit relevant to those of you who are flying into Vegas for @blackhatevents.bsky.social , @defcon.bsky.social , and @bsideslv.org this week... www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4us...

Ugh, tomorrow my SPID expires and I'll have to renew (and pay for) it, I'm too lazy to get a CIE, also not everyone accepts that even if the law requires them to. I'm pretty sure no one reading this will understand and that's perfectly fine. 😉
I have about 8-ish months to convince my brain to accept the fact that the Canon EOS system will be 40 years old in March 2027.
A gorgeous Moon. Straight unedited from the camera (just cropped). Same lens and camera I use back home in the city, but the image is way better and sharper. Maybe this is also a byproduct of the lower light pollution here on the Adriatic coast.
I was looking up stuff for my Seattle trip. Then I felt ready to go to bed, but I made the mistake of walking out in the balcony for a second and saw a fantastic moon. I'm now getting the tripod and the DSLR out, I need to take a photo. Maybe even attempt a film photo.
I occasionally buy stuff online for my parents, no questions asked. They know they just have to send me an email with the link to the item. The other day my father said to me "I need you to buy me something". I get his email and open the link. "Professional oyster shucker kit" Ok, bought. 😅
Pragmatic answer: I'd pivot to another area of IT, it's the thing I can do best "If I could turn back time" answer: [car] journalist (though I know a few and nowadays it's either a crappy life money-wise, or a side-hustle) or something in aviation (probably maintenance, not a pilot because bad 👁️👂)
If you had to pivot careers right now, what field/industry would you go into?
Thanks to my obsession about always having a watch on my wrist since my grandpa gifted me a Swatch in '98 for my first communion, I now have a handy way to check the degree of cooking of my skin during summer months.

Fun fact, the 737 MAX 7 certification process took longer than the original 737 entire development cycle from announcement to first revenue flight. (I know it's almost comparing apples to oranges, given all the safety requirements/design processes that were added over the years, but still)
Congratulations Boeing on FAA certification of the 737-7 MAX! Looking forward to tracking it in airline service soon.
Currently AC set on 26°C in dry mode and it's 32°C outside according to my weather app (I hate not having a proper thermometer), yet the difference feels more like 10° Back home (inland 50km from here) it's 37°C: 5° of difference between a concrete (sub)urban environment and a small seaside village

I think my record of showers in a day is three (maybe four) Unless you count as shower those quick cold showers you take at the beach every time you come back from a dip in the sea to wash off saltwater (it's an amazing sensation BTW), in that case the number doubles, possibly triples.
Ok time for the second shower of the day🚿 Italians during summer months probably use more water than datacenters

Or, as the BBC would say, "other countries are available". The one I'm from and currently in is famous for pasta, pizza, art, fast cars, and Nintendo plumbers
Hello I have made this due to a mutual having issues with some folks on here forgetting this fact and shouting at him for it. Feel free to use it as a handy PSA x

I made it in time for the paella themed lunch party. I've already sweated through two shirts 🥵
Just took a shower, the water felt warm even with the mixer tap set on cold 😅 Just 20 minutes behind schedule, I was supposed to leave home at 10AM, I'm supposed to be at a lunch party around 12-ish and I have to stop at the grocery store too on the way to the sea. I just want to sleep.
Tonight I'm more in a mess than usual. I do hope to get to bed at least before 4AM, that would give me maybe 4-5 hours of sleep

Ok, I declare myself defeated, I turned on the AC. The temperature was still survivable with the night air moving around outside, but I was just tired of sweating.

#Seattle related question I was looking for computer history related things to see there, does anyone have any suggestions? (I'm more interested in historical stuff rather than current, like AMZN/MS HQs) I saw there was the Living Computer Museum, now closed, and found the Interim Computer Museum
Pro-tip: you can use a watch case back opening ball to open any AirTag-style tag/tracker if you have to replace the battery inside. Because of course everyone has a watch case opening ball lying around 😜
Ok, so if a Light Rail ticket is 3$, and a ORCA day pass 6$, assuming I'll get the train at least twice a day I should just go for a day pass, seems like a no brainer And then there is the 3 day PugetPass, which costs exactly like 3 daily passes, I'm not sure if it has any advantages over that one
