What an immense, and invigorating, offering from the small presses you'll find in Good Press, in Glasgow. The store's an absolute gem and will, in addition to the Sacred Parasite @andreicodrescu.bsky.social book already stocked there, add four more SP titles at the end of next month.
Sacred Parasite
@sacredparasite.bsky.social
Publisher Books Made in Berlin since 2023 www.sacredparasite.com
This origami dragon was made in Typewronger, in Edinburgh, recently, by Tee Hodges, and yesterday Tee wrote and told me that Sacred Parasite is officially on their shelves, so go in there and buy a sackful of those books, or even just one, and you too will get to experience their origami magic.
The day I made my way over to Crofton Books I was told, unfortunately, that I just missed owner Jason Shelley, but I did get to visit the shop (where Sacred Parasite is available), buy some books, and realize I would very much like to return to Brockley and get that timing right.
Bookartbookshop was my first (literary) stop in London on my recent trip to the UK. This bookshop is one of a kind (SO many zines and small press—including their own: Atlas Press—books) and I love that 11 Sacred Parasite books will soon be available when they re-open in September.
The next 2 Sacred Parasite books are @wildtwin.bsky.social's Latchkey and JWGoll's The Terminal Art and you still have time (1 week) to become a HOST for one or the other or both. Hosting a single book: 75 euros. Both: 100 euros. More info: www.sacredparasite.com/hosts
Sacred Parasite's Summer Pause is nigh. Get those orders in. Any orders between July 28th and August 12th will be sent out on the 13th. See you back here in mid-late August... Photo by JWGoll
Missing my latest 7 books here but I like this photo and if you like the looks of anything you can find most of it at sacredparasite.com as most are "PRE-SP" books, meaning most are fundraisers FOR Sacred Parasite, thus another way to SUPPORT Sacred Parasite.
Sacred Parasite has published: William Minor, Howie Good, Ian Seed, John Dorsey, Brian Evenson, Andrei Codrescu, and me. The next five forthcoming Sacred Parasite authors are: JWGoll, Jeff Young, Rob Doyle, Rae Armantrout, and Kim Addonizio. www.sacredparasite.com
Very nice to have had @brianevenson.bsky.social in town and over and to be able to announce that all Salt Lake City copies I have left are now SIGNED copies. Order one at sacredparasite.com. When gone, they are: GONE.
The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Potsdamer Straße) has a new Photo Book exhibition that I went to today to be able to flip through the pictured book by Miron Zownir. Enjoyed catching a glimpse of a photogenic and lebendig Berlin in the very early 90s as well.
In Too Loud a Solitude Bohumil Hrabal makes a point of repeating that no man, that NOTHING, is humane. Well, maybe. But if you want to talk about approaching said chimera, then you needn't look much further than this book/narrator/character. This Solitude is my favorite Hrabal so far.
Clowns of the Absolute, William Minor's newest book (2026), is now available at Printed Matter in New York City. Other Sacred Parasite titles in NYC can be found at Troubled Sleep and Quimby's. And if you're not in the northeast US? Simply/securely shop here: www.sacredparasite.com.
NO DOG combines Andrei Codrescu's writing with Catherine Tafur's art. It's Sacred Parasite's newest book and it is available here: www.sacredparasite.com. Sacred Parasite needs your support. It needs sales to keep doing what it's doing, and I would love to see a huge summer wave of them this week.
My rec last week: Brian Evenson's Salt Lake City story collection, with artwork by Torsten Bohm, from @sacredparasite.bsky.social. "A delightful, and scary, little volume." www.deadofnightletter.com/morbid-energy/ #filmsky #horrorsky
Starting this September, these 10 Sacred Parasite books will be on sale at Bookartbookshop, SP's 2nd London location, so today I'm sending a big Dankeschön west to owner Tanya Peixoto, to her and to all the other bookstore owners seeing Sacred Parasite through door after door.
Ended last week with big SP news, going to begin this one with some of my own. My next book, Disco Pam Pam, will be published in September by Bateau Press. 48 stories. Letterpress cover. Classic Bateau size. Classic Bateau quality. www.bateaupress.com/kevintosca
