I can't be the only writer to have weird or awkward inner dialogs with their characters, right? Like, having a short back and forth with one of them in my head every once in a while. It's not just me, right? Like, that's not crazytown, just the outskirts... Right? Anyone? #WriteSky

I had completely forgotten this. Searching through old files, I found a document from 2017 called 'Gambit.docx' 'Gambit' was my original name for the Coven of Eden. I actually put pen to paper NINE YEARS AGO, writing a single page in STAGE DIRECTION style. I don't remember any of it. 1/5

Gambit

Interior, medium-large 1 room apartment, messy, dark.

An alarm goes off. A woman grunts and rolls over in the bed at the far corner of the apartment. Two cats are seen stirring in the room as well. The woman picks up her phone on the floor by her bed, unplugs it from charging and turns off the alarm.

Fast cuts of a breakfast being made, shower and hygiene stuff, feeding her cats.

The young woman (15, “Sarya”) packs a large backpack with schoolbooks and a compact magic wand (as if it was normal). She walks out the door saying goodbye to her cats.

Outer view of a school, mid-afternoon. Schoolbell rings.

“Did you hear about Krissa?”

Interior classroom. Kids seen eating lunch, standing/walking around, sitting and talking. The Sarya and another girl (Rachel) are seen talking while eating lunch at their desks. Sarya shakers head head (with her mouth full) implying “no”.

Rachel – “Her dad was apparently interviewed for a job at Elysium!”

Sarya’s eyes widen in surprise and swallows her food. a big grin grows on her face.

Sarya – “please tell me she’s moving…”

Rachel – “already gone.”

Sarya smiles happily at the news and opens a cup of pudding.

"Requiem of Worlds: The Mysteries of Jane Sothara" is the first book in a quadrilogy. I have rough drafts for the other three books at the ready. Just need to get through this first one. I like to do it all out at once, so I know exactly where it's going before editing/rewriting. #WritingPrompt

#AnthropologyAugust 4 different cultures to talk about: First is 'ancient' culture. Most information of them is obscured by a mysterious dark age. (For those following my #MythAugust you might have an idea of what happened) Had futuristic tech in medical, now mostly lost. 1/4 #promptgame

#AnthropologyAugust Today let’s get into some of the knitty gritty of your species. Which species in your setting has the most advanced medical technology? Have any of them developed medications or vaccines? Have any of the groups in your worlds figured out modern medicine? #promptgame

Day 5 : Which species has the most advanced medical technology? Does everyone know about germs?

Just putting this out into the world: I’ve always been told that my dream or dreamlike sequences are well done. I wonder what it would be like to just write a story entirely in someone’s dream. Like, a completely surrealist story full of anxiety, contradictions, imagery, and mayhem. A nightmare.

#SumLuv I'm pretty sure I've 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 read a romance novel. I don't read much anymore (trying to change that), and I don't think as a kid I would have read one. My romance inspirations come from anime/games/TV/movies... Or from real life. I've been madly in love with my partner for over 18 years.

Romance Writers Summer of Love #SumLuv @EllieYellu Day 5: Romance Reads. What was your introduction to romantic fiction?

#MythAugust There is a huge hierarchy of the divine. In descending order: (???): Cronus was created by... 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔. Something you don't need to know. Unknown to mortals. Cronus: Considered an 'old god.' Designed and planted the first world trees within the void. Unknown to mortals. 1/4

🫜Prof Emily🫜@professoremily.bsky.social · 15h ago

#MythAugust 5 Today is about hierarchy! Who ranks highest or lowest among your gods/spirits/whatever? Is there a consensus about this ranking? As usual, interpret the question as loosely as you need to to fit your specific worldbuilding, and feel free to skip if it's not relevant to you! 😊❤️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 5:
Let's talk hierarchy! Which of your deities are more powerful/respected? Are there minor deities who serve the big ones?

I just had flowers delivered to my home for my bday, but they didn’t leave a name in the small message that came with it. I guess I have to wait until someone asks me if I received it. 🤷‍♀️ So thoughtful though. Hope the cats don’t gnaw on it, lol

#AugCharWork A red guardian, and he paints. Those are two things I developed in book 1. By book 2, he's become aggressive and quick to anger. Perhaps boxing? He has painting to take out his creative stress, and maybe boxing to take his anger out on? Could even be seen with hand wraps. Hmm...

#SumLuv Excluding their first bombshell of a meeting, when they next saw each other, Liz was in a 𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 vulnerable state. Resting in a psychiatric ward, lost in memories. Jane’s successful attempt at gently navigating her trauma helped forge a strong bond between them. Not romantic, but meaningful.

#SumLuv Okay, time to catch up. I’m writing the first book in an epic fantasy adventure quadrilogy. “Requiem of Worlds: The Mysteries of Jane Sothara” While not specifically a ‘romance’ series, there is a lot of romance throughout. It’s my first book and I’ve been working on it for 2 years now.

#AnthropologyAugust I should have seen that one coming. Most of my races are normal 'human' sized (for the most part, though some can be pretty tall). I don't have any that are smaller, so it would probably be a tie between: Human, Angel, Necari, Ludari, and Zerrin

MYSTIC@mystic888wizard.bsky.social · 2d ago

#AnthropologyAugust Once again doing the opposite, we just talked about the largest intelligent species, now what is the smallest? Does your setting have goblins or gnomes? Or does it have even smaller creatures like bugs or fairies? Does their size affect their interactions with other species?

#MythAugust Sorta? Gods do come in 'sets.' When a world tree feels threatened, it will reproduce asexually, creating a duplicate world with a single change that ensures its survival. A new star in the sky. That tree will birth a new set of the same gods. As is designed by Cronus, a higher power.

🫜Prof Emily🫜@professoremily.bsky.social · 2d ago

#MythAugust 4 Today, tell me about the different factions among your gods/spirits. Think like the Æsir & Vanir in Norse mythology, or angels & demons in Christianity. What's their relationship? Are they sworn enemies? Sometimes allies? Interpret the question however makes sense for your story!

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 4:

#AwesomeCharacters Jane's series exist 'in-world', as a retelling based off of her journal and 'interviews with those involved.' Her memoirs would likely have a similar tone. But she'd probably leave out some... 𝑢𝑛𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 scenes about some topics... #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
