A close up and the full thing. A new idea for a Christmas Card. This is painted in watercolours but also 'no bleed white' gouache for the snowy bits. If you saw the work in progress pic at the weekend, you'll see I had some stuff to sort out. But I love it now. Especially the hog.
It's only a work in progress picture for a new Christmas Card idea. I'm hoping to do 2 new ones this year. That's about all I can hope with! Lots still to do. But that's what happens when you make it up as you go along. #womensart
Experimenting again. I cut the Lino last year then lost confidence. I hope to cut some more very soon so I can experiment some more ❤️
All new bits and pieces from the last couple of weeks. And a go at blind embossing. Much learning to do!
We shall meet in a place where there is no darkness. George Orwell. I'm a bit sad that I've not seen any evidence of dragonflies having emerged from our pond. I wonder if it was just too hot last year.
Words by Emily Dickinson. I'll tell you how the sun rose. A ribbon at a time. With a sleepy Appaloosa. The horse of my dreams.
Newly finished. I really hope you like it. I love badgers and wish that we all appreciated them more. Painted in watercolours. #womensart
Virginia Woolf 'She blazed. She kindled. Out of the night she burnt like a white star.' From a few years ago now. And in honour of tomorrow's 2nd full moon of the month, the glorious Blue Moon. #womensart

Every day holds the possibility of a miracle. - Elizabeth David And a brand new painting that I've worked hours and hours on this week just ready for a new card. I live close to the Jurassic Coast and finding fossils here as been so wonderful. #samcannonart www.samcannonart.co.uk
“Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.” Guillaume Apollinaire A new twist on an old painting. For a new project - trying to keep my little business going in these difficult times.
I was made for another planet altogether. I mistook the way. Simone de Beauvoir Watercolours and then Schmincke Aqua bronze for the hand rendered lettering at the top.
**** needsaclick **** to see it all. 'Friendship is a sheltering tree' from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem Youth and Age. And the gorgeous of face of a Herwick Sheep with her hen companion on her back. www.samcannonart.co.uk
I once asked a bird, how is it that you fly in this gravity of darkness? She responded, 'love lifts me.' Hafez Inspired by Flaco. A watercolour of an eagle owl. #womensart
You have seen my descent now watch my rising. Rumi Simple things for complicated times. Painted in watercolours on watercolour paper. I don't use AI in any of my work. #womensart
All with paintings with the words from Philip Larkin's 'An Arundel Tomb' - What will survive of us is love. #womensart And I'm sending out today all the love I can to counteract all the other things that are happening right now.
Hafez - I will always lean my heart as close to your soul as I can. And this is for every mum. The ones still with us. The new mum's. In memory of the ones no longer here. The ones who step in and provide the love of a mother in whatever form it has taken. #motherslove #womensart
Some paintings are harder than others. One of these was, one of these wasn't. "For I would ride with you upon the wind, Run on the top of the dishevelled tide, And dance upon the mountains like a flame.” William Butler Yeats Both watercolours. #womensart
Just in case you need to hear it today..... “I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being.' Hafez ***needsaclick*** to see it all.
I'm going to make time today to put together a new 'flowers' greetings card pack. These three will all be in there. All containing my favourite flowers. Watch this space. #womensart
Hello Spring I couldn't resist including you in a painting any longer. This is all done in watercolours. The lettering is drawn by me in pencil and then I paint over it with watercolours and white gouache. I don't use computers for this, just 4 years of training at uni. #womensart
As the world seems so very scary right now, I'm fully focussed on Spring blossoms and bird song. The Robins are serenading me wherever I go. And now the Wrens are joining in too. Watercolours from 2024. #womensart
With words by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. This painting of our peacock and peahen has been tormenting me all week. I have really stressed over the colours of their feathers. Not all paintings come easy and this is one of the hardest I've ever painted.
Virginia Woolf - Her heart was made of liquid sunsets. Watercolours on watercolour paper. #foxoftheday #womensart
My finished painting with the words by Louisa May Alcott. Sleeping horse. Flying short eared owl. Running hares and a halo around the moon. I really hope you like the finished piece.
On hand made paper from Thailand. You are not alone. And you are loved. ❤️
New work - not quite finished but soon. With words by Louisa May Alcott. I love greens, purples and whites together. Roll on bluebells, stitchwort and spring.
I've not been on here much this week. A long, stressful week. But in that time I've seen so many signs of Spring arriving. Including a huge Blackthorn tree in full bloom. It is coming. And I love it.
