I caught the Apple Cactus blooms this morning at dawn on this huge beauty! Flowers bloom for one night only, bats and bees visit, then blooms die before day. I’ve been trying to see them for months. Snuck over at sunrise and got to see the glory.

This map shares NY stories of love and strength from 25 years ago. Well done. Check it out Always on this day I’m furious, heartbroken, nauseous, crying. I’m also grateful and full of love so I host a Thanksgiving meal and share love and gratitude. 💕 Glad all y’all are here. 💕💕💕

good morning it’s 6:25am and 87F already. Today promises very dangerous heat. Great. I thought we were cooling down. Love/hate relationship with A/C here. And I don’t think anyone should have to work outside when it’s over 100F. My home has fires and sinkhole waves and interim home so hot

Max - a pup I’m dog sitting - in smol mode. A hard week for him since his partner in crime died a week ago. She was a bossy 15 y.o. labradoodle with cancer who stole hearts fast including mine. (just 2 months after losing my Shepherd. Ouch.) Max is getting through it one day at a time.

A small senior male Papillion dog curled up in a smol tight ball with a worried expression on the couch by a red throw pillow and various throw blankets nearby.

I made some orange cranberry scones yesterday for someone. My first time with scones and they were yum. 😋 Maybe could get better lift but they were delightful taste. #PreppyKitchen recipes turn out well on the first try. I appreciate that given my impatience, budget, and limited energy.

Wakey wakey earthquakey… just a light one but it was already a chaotic night and this just added to it. Glad it was “nothing” and also for lots of coffee this morning. 🥱 Love #MyShake app this Earthquake app from UC Berkeley and USGS. It often warns me and always keeps me informed

Strawberry Rhubarb pie is cooling. It’ll be ready in a bit. Not sure I ever made one before. Followed a #PreppyKitchen recipe which are pretty much no fail. My Dad loved strawberry rhubarb. It’s such a summery dish. I’m having an overwhelming day but baking helps calm me.

After #PalisadesFire #FEMA helped me. There’s supposed to be more help now for people like me who still need assistance. I’ve provided docs but FEMA has to confirm info with State Farm. But State Farm wont exhaust my legit ALE and refuses to speak to FEMA about me. So FEMA cant help. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Stupidest day ever. The girl who gets me through my day and has been by my side through Palisades Fire displacement, travels across the country, Long COVID has died. Can’t even speak. Still sitting in Emergency vet parking lot. I can’t look in the back seat. My co-pilot is gone. #RIP

The most beautiful black and tan German shepherd dog sits in her backseat perch while her human drives. Zosia died today. She saved my life literally.

You need to make $57/hour to RENT even 500sq ft I’ve found this out still trying to get housed after the Palisades fire last year. High rents and then the insane circa 1931 expectation that you earn 3x rent to have a little apartment. The reality is it’s all greed. laist.com/news/housing...

In Orange County, six-figure salaries now qualify as 'low income'

With OC rents and home prices soaring, the state says individuals making up to $104,200 per year are now eligible for “low-income” housing.
