Watching Night of the Living Dead (1968) makes me fall in love with Romero all over again. His zombie narratives seem so simple and obvious yet always compelling in how they come together. And no matter how thrilling the stories told, they are always have a very charming calmness to them.

I dislike the screen-life genre films like Unfriended on a concept level, but familiarizing myself with something new always makes for an interesting experience that I can easily invest myself in. So I'm kinda stuck in between thinking it's a bore or an unique perspective on modern storytelling.

Rarely i see a kind of movie leaning into its gimmick so hard that it ultimately defeats the purpose of telling a story worth investing into. Unfriended is one of that kind. Can't say i wasn't entertained by it at all, but it's like being entertained by Troll 2. The latter is legit WAY more fun tho!

Was watching werewolf features, Dog Soldiers and The Howling, and didn't expect the second one to be so explicitly sexual. Dog Soldiers take the cake tho for having a slaywolf.

Вторая половина года кажется заполнена фильмами с квирными персонажами в центре. Только за прошлую неделю сразу вышли My Animal, Theater Camp, Bottoms, Cassandro. Можно с натяжкой Barbie посчитать. И это не всё конечно.

Моя любимая арка в SBR это The Promised Land: Sugar Mountain. Она энкапсулирует в себе жертвенную природу этого приключения. Джонни добровольно расстаётся с предметом своих желаний и шансом победить президента, лишь бы спасти себя и своего друга. Trading ambition for another day of suffering.
