Thank you, Sanford City Council, for unanimously approving the data center moratorium last night - and to the citizens who worked so hard to make it happen! Now we have time to put ordinances in place to protect our city from the devastating environmental effects these centers can cause. Well done!
All area registered Dems and invited guests are welcome to join us for our monthly meeting, Mon. 7/27. We'll be writing letters to the editor, hearing the latest updates on local, state and federal races, and making plans for upcoming events. Doors open at 6, meeting starts at 6:30 at 913 Main St.
Several candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for US Senate nominee. Some have started exploratory committees and ramped up fundraising. But that doesn't make them "official" candidates or give them an edge over anyone else. Convention delegates will decide who the next nominee will be.
The Maine Democratic Party will hold a convention to select the new Senate nominee. It will be limited to 600 attendees - 100 MDC members and 500 selected by the county committees. Date / location / selection process for delegates is TBD. County chairs are meeting with MDP leadership tonight (7/9).
Platner has announced his withdrawal and Maine Dems will hold a convention to choose a new nominee for US Senate. More details will be forthcoming.
The York County Dems zoom scheduled for 7/9 has been cancelled so county chairs can meet with MDP leadership to determine the procedure for selecting a new candidate if Platner withdraws. YCDC will hold a special zoom 7/16 to update us. A replacement candidate must be chosen by 7/27. Stay tuned.
Hannah will make a great Governor!

So refreshing to hear my friend, Gov. Spanberger, lay out a clear-eyed case for why we're headed in the wrong direction—and how we turn it around. Americans are sick of the incompetence, corruption, and cruelty. They want a government that *works.* Kudos to the Governor on her inspiring response.
