Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
This whole thing is a mess and I'll never give them another cent, but I am also eager to know what it means for the wardrobe of my kid's one therapist who seems only to wear t-shirts featuring the "Buc-ees" beaver.

It's especially tragic since the 5th place, drawn by an actual human, is great. Rooster (OH fair has biggest poultry show in US) riding the "butter cow" (exactly what it sounds like).

This one makes me really sad. The co-op (a subset of the whole Dudley community) was where some of the most glorious weirdos lived. Parties almost always involved fresh-baked bread. A countercultural, physical reminder that consulting and i-banking weren’t the only paths to pursue.

Unsurprising that all these cuts being made to #Harvard —from the Office of Student Services to the Writing Center to now the Dudley Co-op—are happening with input from McKinsey, a firm made up of The Second Worst People I knew in college there
