Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

This one makes me really sad. The co-op (a subset of the whole Dudley community) was where some of the most glorious weirdos lived. Parties almost always involved fresh-baked bread. A countercultural, physical reminder that consulting and i-banking weren’t the only paths to pursue.

First it was the writing center, now Dudley House. This was the place where people like married veterans & other students who had reasons to live off campus found community at Harvard. I refuse to believe this was extremely costly. www.thecrimson.com/article/2026...
