First night at the new house. Hadn’t planned it - not properly moved in yet - but I am too fucking tired to walk 5 mins home (been cleaning the place for two weeks solid. I won’t go into the details, you might be eating). Garden chair, cardboard box side table, sparkly from @davidwl.bsky.social 🧡🍾🏡

Misty morning in south Liverpool. Sat in my new garden listening to the foghorns going off on the Mersey ❤️
Today is Aortic Dissection Awareness Day. AD is a time-critical condition with catastrophic outcomes if not diagnosed. Paul, like too many others, was misdiagnosed and it cost him his life. The ADCT exists to raise awareness of the condition… 1/? aorticdissectioncharitabletrust.org/could-it-be-...
Could it be aortic dissection? #AortaEd diagnosis masterclass
More needs to be done to save the lives lost to aortic dissection in emergency medicine. Please share this masterclass and together, we can make a difference.

Today is Aortic Dissection Awareness Day. Know the signs. Sudden, severe chest, back or abdominal pain is a typical symptom of aortic dissection. But some cases are painless or present in unexpected ways. Sometimes the only signs are neurological, such as sudden weakness or collapse.

A few days away on the Llŷn. So many birds - including more ravens than I’ve ever seen in my life. Also heard my very first green woodpecker - astonishingly loud, followed its progress all through the trees along the valley bottom, and could still hear it yelling about 3 fields away. Happy days. 🪶
Big credit to Iraola for the changes. The midfield didn't work last week? Changed it. Fullbacks weren't working today? Changed them. Didn't like the winger combo last week? Changed it. We're going to be fine.
Wirtz and Munoz looking shiny. Rest of them might need to give themselves a bit of a primp #LFC
Also - fair warning - in a couple of weeks I’m moving just a couple of streets away to a house with a garden, and you need to mute me now if you don’t like plant 🌱 and bird 🪶 chat because there will be A Lot Of It.
My little yarden jungle sounds great in the rain 💚
Universe by Yayoi Kusama, 2018. (I love that I can see Paul in two of these photos, we were in That London for a few days to celebrate his 50th.)
Could have been a lot worse. Thanks for bailing us out, Victor (and Dom). Now go do your fucking job, Richard, you glorified shampoo salesman.
Arne’s second season Reds couldn’t fight their way back from a deficit because they had no oomph. These have oomph. It might be a bit rocky in the early days, but I have faith. #LFC
Aaaaaand some twats are still setting fireworks off in the park.
For the new edition of Science & Magic I wrote about my left hand and catching a moth in a cage made of bones. As ever, the mag is full of brilliant things and you can read it here: www.violetterecords.com/science-and-...
Wish I’d taken more photos of the leaf shadows than the colander - they were v cool.
Also many juvenile herring (probably) gulls about yesterday. They got a good share of the bird food, plus some strawberries. They’re less quarrelsome & flappy-abouty than the starlings, but their size means they are terrifying & amazing in equal measure. Also take their lifeguard role v seriously. 🪶
As a side note, I find it dismaying to see people directing so much hatred towards gulls for the heinous sins of being hungry, opportunistic and smart. “Bastard stole my chips waah waah!” You’ve just been outwitted by a dinosaur, perhaps wind your neck in and have a think.
The big blue skies of Hightown. I lost my hat somewhere along the way and now have a *very* sunburnt face.
Crosby starlings yesterday 🪶Their numbers are massively reduced compared to my previous visits to this site - don’t know if the successive heatwaves have killed them off, or just changed their feeding / behavioural habits. Video by the v patient @gottobedrifting.bsky.social

Went to see Anthony Shapland’s piece ‘Murmur’ this week - it’s on at Tŷ Pawb in Wrexham. Features a gorgeous short film involving several starlings who get up to mischief in the way that starlings usually do. There’s also a handsome naked man involved. All beautifully curated by @m-amcq.bsky.social
My theory of most unpopular animals, including gulls, is that they are unapologetic and confident in human spaces. They aren’t deferent or grateful, they take up space, get annoyed and raid bins. It’s quite admirable given human expansion of habitat but most people dislike this 1/

I was very high (very high) but there were some lovely clouds this evening.
Isn’t it lovely here on Bluesky when someone who was an absolute and irredeemable cunt dies. It’s like that time a few years back when we were all on YouTube watching the big planes landing in the wind. United by something wholesome and pure. ❤️
It’s blood orange season, which leads me to the question - what is your preferred method for peeling an orange, and why is it The Best Method For Peeling An Orange™️?
