Started my next draft yesterday. So far, the theme of this one is "why are the trees doing that?!"

And for the lady, perhaps a 30-something FMC with a cat, a deep-seated rage within her, and some environmental magic powers?
I'm in the process of moving, so I've been a little MIA lately, but here's a reminder: I write witchy urban fantasy books set in the hills of Appalachia. You should check them out if you're into that kind of thing. www.saralilienfeld.com/books

The fact that the "home of human creativity" organ is the same as the "be big sad for long time" one is a sham.
Looking for an urban fantasy series with ancestral magic, a strong connection to the earth, and compelling mysteries, set in the haunting, ancient mountains of Appalachia? Then, The Arcane Codex is perfect for you!
I've decided I'm going to add more flair to how I turn down invitations/commitments due to my chronic illness. "Sorry, the blood curse is back. I can't come" sounds way cooler than "Sorry, I can't come because I don't feel well"
I'm a Very Serious Author, who writes Very Serious Books, but sometimes, for no reason, my funky little brain goes "what if a goose just attacks everyone right now?"
My dad just pre-ordered my second book from me, because he's a supportive dad (Yay!) Now, I have until release day to come up with a witty/touching note to add. (Slightly-less yay, because I'm going to overthink it to Pluto and back)
Me: "no, my history of health issues doesn't bleed into my writing. I don't know what you're talking about." Also me: writes a protagonist who oscillates between "let me live a cozy life with my cats, my books, and my plants, goddammit" and "I will kill Death to free us all from her tyranny"
Very excited to announce I reached my word count goal on my latest draft. In other news, the task I've been avoiding for five weeks looms ever closer
I'm no longer in the "my search history going to put me on a watchlist" portion of writing my next book. I've graduated to the "my search history makes no damn sense" stage.

The more books I write, the more creative my answer to "how can I involve trees in killing a character?" becomes. Unexpected growth, but growth all the same
I'm getting my many tomes ready to go on an adventure (moving to another town) and wow, I really tried to like certain genres that just weren't for me over the years.
New blog post! Today, I decided to talk about messy first drafts, and the fantastic potential they represent. You can read it here: www.saralilienfeld.com/post/messy-f...
Messy First Drafts are the Best First Drafts
I'm currently working on the second draft of The Arcane Codex Book 3. The title is still alluding me, but overall I now have a firm grasp of the story (mostly). As I was reading my first draft in orde...

A few years ago, I went through a pretty scary health crisis. Every year since, I've made myself cupcakes to celebrate surviving it. I'm usually a chocolate cupcake w/chocolate frosting person, but I'm debating mixing it up. What's your go-to/favorite combo?
All Adeline wants to do is live a peaceful life. Even with witchcraft, that’s far easier said than done in a world filled with supernatural threats. #booksky books2read.com/u/bO7ZNN
Today, I decided to get a little personal and talk about some of my non-writing hobbies on my blog You can read it here: www.saralilienfeld.com/post/my-non-...
My Non-Writing Hobbies
Due to being an author, I spend a lot of my time either writing or talking about what I've written. Long before I published anything, it was a huge passion of mine, and a massive aspect to my personal...

This scammer is REAL MAD that I didn't respond to the bogus offer of a "possible" trad deal. The one they sent yesterday. At 9PM (Redacted the name of the publisher since they stole the name of an actual legit company, as well as an editor's name)
I think my family started a "who can pitch Sara's book to the most people" competition without telling me because the number of "I told [x] about your book" messages I've gotten this week has me a little confused (Currently, Mom is winning this contest that may or may not be real)
Introducing the cover for Death & Destiny in the Mountains, Book 2 in The Arcane Codex It will be releasing on September 29, 2026! This cover was designed by the talented Ashton M. Smith.
I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to all of my wonderful readers. I can't really put into words how much I appreciate the support and love I've received for Magic & Murder in the Holler, and the messages of excitement for the release of Death & Destiny in the Mountains.
I ran into a bit of a roadblock when it comes to my third book. It's been bothering me so much that I wrote an entire blog post about how hard picking a title can be. You can read it here: www.saralilienfeld.com/post/book-ti...
Book Titles Are Hard
The saying goes "don't judge a book by its cover" and we all know by now that judging books by their covers is exactly what readers do. Choosing a title is, I'd argue, equally important as choosing th...

I'm excited to announce the cover reveal for my second novel, Death & Destiny in the Mountains. I can't wait for everyone to see it! The cover and release date will be revealed to the world on May 9th, so keep an eye out for that! (Newsletter subscribers will get to see it earlier)
I'm so close to being finished with final edits on Death & Destiny in the Mountains that I have to talk myself out of staying up all night to finish
Somebody please clap. I went to a Spring street festival near me, and kept my purchases below my "I'm only going to spend x" number. (It's especially impressive because there was a bookstore involved.)
I don't put nearly as many dad jokes into my books as I could. I feel my restraint should be acknowledged.
