If the reason you think art is worth your time is because it took a lot of skill or effort then you are badly missing out on a lot of really good art.

I've been basically all in on AI coding since January. Honestly the actual code generated can be pretty good. However the workflow is just total inhumane garbage and the most popular solutions (e.g. Claude Code) are going in a direction that makes it worse.

If only Americans are allowed any future models from US AI companies isn't this going to just destroy their TAM? The US is not even half the professional market for AI.

Looking forward to welcoming our 7th unelected prime minister in my life time. We've only had 4 people become PM via a general election since 1979.

/r/conservative actually managed to make a joke involving Pride that at least has the general shape of a joke AND has no slurs. Our politics is healing.

Happy pride month to Home Depot for not selling a single piece of straight wood.

I wonder if people who look at LLMs and worry about their fallibility know about biological processes like protein self assembly? Error tolerance and self correction is a critical aspect of resilient system design and it rarely relies on humans noticing every single error to achieve it.

all of these things are true of human labor. do you have any idea what the 742,000 people who work at Accenture globally are doing? and if people knew when they were making mistakes, they wouldn't make them www.wheresyoured.at/premium-the-...

As a result, nobody has really got a clear answer as to what everybody is doing with AI. Code? Image generation? Using it as a shitty search engine? Using it as a companion? You can’t really rely on it to do anything. When a model hallucinates an incorrect answer to something you know is true it’s a problem that can be fixed — when it hallucinates an incorrect decision with your codebase, that’s fucked everything up to a near-permanent end.

This is the ultimate problem with AI. You can try and dress it up with billions of investment and supposed ways to mitigate hallucinations, but it still makes — and will continue to make — mistakes that it has no idea are mistakes.

Not sure I am going to start taking my ethical advice from an organisation that is still riddled with pedos, bans condoms and abortions and hates gay and trans people.

Never going to be a good day when the first thing you have to do is write to your MP to complain about their participation in a pointless culture war.

Some great non-fiction books managers should be reading in an AI first world: * A Deepness in the Sky * Rainbow's End * Accelerando * The Diamond Age

LLMs are just speed running western philosophy. Tokenization: applied Saussure. RLHF: applied Wittgenstein. RAG: applied Derrida. Synthetic data: applied Baudrillard. Eventually we'll need AI reincarnated Zizek to debug anything.
