That really ought to be where the story ends, but people (especially on Twitter) don't want that to be the case. To them, an apology isn't an apology; it's an admittance of guilt, of PERMANENT wrongdoing. It's an excuse to villainize someone showing remorse for their own pleasure.

One of the things that bothers me about the TADC situation is the lesson this kinda stuff teaches. The lesson I was always taught as a kid was, "if you do something wrong, you should say you're sorry and then try to do better." I think that's a pretty reasonable approach.
