I really wish I could help people without hurting myself in the process. I poured everything I had into supporting a friend, hoping for the best. Instead, my own boundaries were ignored, I ran completely on empty, and ended up causing more strain for both of us. Lesson learned the hard way. 😞

Envy is the most ridiculous of all vices, as Honoré de Balzac once said. It offers nothing but self-inflicted misery. You literally suffer because of someone else's success, without changing your surroundings. It's the ultimate waste of mental energy. #foodforthought

The corporate executives in tailored suits always make the same fatal mistake: they look at video games and see nothing but a way to endlessly extract revenue. They fail to understand that gaming is about the people who have the passion to create art and the people who have the passion to play it.

It's incredibly easy to sit in front of a camera or a keyboard and criticize the work of others unconstructively. Punching down at other artists or developers is the ultimate defense mechanism for envious people who don't have the courage or skills to build anything themselves.

Hey everyone, I've had people really interested in my characters' lore lately; while I may not have time to work on the stories and comics that I want to make for it, I've been considering a dedicated Tumblr account to let people ask questions to the characters and world build. Does that sound good?

In every artistic project I work on, I go by this philosophy: Be weird. Be interesting. Break rules. But for the love of everything holy, don't be stupid. Interesting is a stuffed cake. Functional is a cupcake with frosting. Stupid is drinking straight cake batter. That's the line. Don't cross it.

Learned helplessness is not the default, and what needs to be learned in response is hopefulness: the active, practiced, daily choice to believe that your actions matter, even against an uncaring, unfair world. But for some people, helplessness protects you from the pain of trying and failing.

"Cynicism asks almost nothing of us. It's the most common and easy of evils. Hopefulness is hard-earned, makes demands, and can feel like the loneliest place on Earth." - Nick Cave

At this point, I'm fully advocating for people to create in spite of smug art-hating, joy-sucking, anti-intellectual nobodies that roam social media. If they think "passion project" is a dirty term, then that just tells me they've never made anything worth loving.
