The tragic nonsense regarding the fate of the Kennedy Center has me once again thinking about the movement to save Carnegie Hall in the 80s. A certain boisterous Manhattan developer, having completed both the Grand Hyatt and Trump Tower (said to have sold out of condos in mere months) by 1983…

Chairmen who didn’t guide the Kennedy Center into bankruptcy (1961-2025) Roger L. Stevens Ralph P. Davidson James D. Wolfensohn James A. Johnson Ken Duberstein Alma Gildenhorn Stephen Schwarzman David M. Rubenstein Chairman who has taken it to the brink of bankruptcy in <600 days: Donald J. Trump

What in the algorithm gets this post, made today, about an interview almost three weeks ago, to become a trending topic? (a poorly-worded trending topic at that, saying AES “dodges” Watters question) It felt like Groundhog’s Day. There was no way they were having this same exact exchange, again.

WATTERS & EL-SAYED. Watters: Do you think men should play women's sports? El-Sayed: I'm running for U.S. Senate. It's insane. I'm out here trying to take on the health care crisis and big pharma, and you're asking me about who gets to play what sports. It's silly. People can't take you seriously.

El-Sayed: You don't want to talk about gas prices. You don't want to talk about groceries....You want to bring up all this culture war

What contractor was paid to do this, and chose to complete the work in violation of a judge’s order? Who has the standing to sue them? Discovery would be very interesting. Who was pressured to do what, by whom, and for what compensation?

Does Trump have to destroy and kill things everywhere he goes, every single day? More than 60 trees have now been cut down at the historic East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. as Trump pushes ahead with

“Trump … said suppliers have agreed to sell at a 25 percent discount that will be passed on to consumers.” No one, especially anyone in the Trump orbit, sells below market price. Expect it to be tainted beef. Hell, at this point, I’d expect it to be Soylent Green. apple.news/Ao4KOnj8yTti...

‘Trump in purgatory’: A White House plan to lower beef prices is dividing the president’s supporters — POLITICO

Many ranchers and Republicans argue that boosting imports won’t tangibly lower beef prices in the short term — in a rare break with the president’s policies.

The name can go up, it can come down. Unfortunately, we will have such wild policy swings, admin-after-admin, until sanity returns (if ever) to US governance. This closure extends the ongoing devastation of the national performing arts center. I grieve for the good guys harmed by this nonsense.

BREAKING: What just happened at the Kennedy Center board meeting is a slap in the face to the rule of law. We will see the president and his corrupt cronies in court. This will not stand. Official statements @repbeatty.bsky.social @democracydefendersaction.org & WLG👇

Prediction: In the end, Trump couldn’t care less. The “private donations” are likely in a “fiscally-gray” account, and Mr Money Launderer extraordinaire will find a way to walk away with the (disputed) dollars, leaving DC with a giant, gaping hole next to the WH. www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

Appeals court blocks Trump’s White House ballroom renovation

But the panel temporarily put its ruling on hold to allow the president to seek relief from the Supreme Court.

“In compliance with the recently published Army directive ‘Optimizing Digital Media,’ all U.S. Army Band ‘Pershing’s Own’ social media accounts will be closed no later than August 7th, 2026.” I guess we now get to watch their concerts on a pamphlet we can get in 6-8 weeks if we mail them an SASE. 🤷

To those with loud amplifiers: Don’t call it the “Weaponization Settlement,” call it the “Insurrectionist Reparations Fund.” More accurately, and more importantly, bring greater focus on the “Tax Amnesty for Trump Family and Friends Agreement” part of it. Labels matter.

I don’t keep a huge network here. So when I see the exact same words - not quote posts, not screengrabs of a post - just a few seconds of scrolling apart, the antenna goes up. Remember that centrally-coordinated manipulation radiates in all directions, not just to and from those you disagree with.

There is more evidence that Elon Musk and Donald Trump interfered in the 2024 election than there is that China interfered in the 2020 election….because the two of them have practically admitted it. If China could illicitly access 220M voter records, then Musk could too. apple.news/Asy92MyWdTva...

House votes to make daylight saving time permanent. Would California go along with it? — Los Angeles Times

The House approved a bill that would put an end to the annual clock-switching practiced in most states. California and other states could opt out if the measure becomes law.

Felt very lucky to have the opportunity to go to the last All-Star Game in Philly. I flew across the country to attend with my dad. It was the last game we attended at the Vet, I think, after 10+ years of mini season ticket packages (where I recall our 200-level 1st base seats were about $16 each).

These are not serious people. This is a merit hire? There were no other qualified people in the entire state that could represent South Carolina for the next six months? Or is this an admission that it doesn’t matter which meatbag votes so long as they vote “correctly”? apple.news/AerqWp_pUTTW...

"On July 4th, it’s going to be approximately 107 degrees out, and I’m going to go and I’m going to make a really long speech, just to show that I can do anything.” - Donald J. Trump, apparently unfamiliar with the fate of one of his predecessors, William Henry Harrison.

Maybe sports analogies will get through to the blockheads. The NE Patriots cheated…and won. The NO Saints cheated…and won. The Astros cheated…and won. Michigan FB cheated…and won. But Democrats are the cheaters extraordinaire…and managed to lose every federal locus of power. Riiiiiiight.
