New research in @PNAS by Petr Tureček ( @unikarlova.cuni.cz) and Michal Misiak models the evolutionary trade-offs of human cannibalism. The study shows that while extreme starvation can make it temporarily adaptive, long-term pathogen risks explain the evolutionary necessity of cultural taboos.
