"Speak from a place of silence. Act from a place of stillness." In the latest episode of the SCM Podcast, @j.robinsonbrown shared the words of his former Abbot of the Order of St Benedict, reflecting that people (including himself!) are sometimes too quick to speak or act in a situation ⏸️
In the latest episode of the SCM podcast, Cat spoke to the most excellent Fr Jarel Robinson-Brown about the church's role in social justice, and "what is ours to do".
As Disability Pride Month comes to an end, we're finishing with a call to action. Want to get involved in future SCM disability campaigns? Join our campaign chat on WhatsApp! Open to all UK students and recent graduates, it's a space to offer support, build solidarity, and organise campaign actions.
What's on tomorrow with the Trans Theology Group! ⬇️ We'll be joined by the legendary Tina Beardsley, who has been a trans theologian and advocate for many years. Her talk is titled "A Pelican in the wilderness? Loneliness and Nurture in Spiritual Imagining", and we'd love to see you there!
Today on Facebook we were accused of not being Christians, being satanic, having created 'a fraudulent reprobate church', and being a 'self-righteous social club for queers'. What a legacy! They did hit the nail on the head with one thing though - we do absolutely love being a social club for queers
During Disability History Month 2024 we ran a disability centered Honest Church Pop-Up. The aim was to help church groups & SCM communities recognise ways in which they could be more honest about their welcome for disabled people, and think about the ways they could make their spaces more welcoming.
We're proud to have published a range of books within the area of disability theology - including a few on offer at the moment:
To celebrate Disability Pride Month we'll be highlighting some of our disability theology and campaigning resources throughout July. First up, "The Little Resource of Disability Theology". A great place to start if you're interested in exploring Disability Theology: buff.ly/VYyzNyS
