The tone has changed a bit in the last half hour. So much institutional ignorance to overcome in this country.
This is some bully ball from the Bears on the defending champs’ home field.
Nice first W for Justin Gainey. The rotation will work itself out, but the emphasis on D and physicality is apparent immediately.
Wissa is denied on a fortunate save by Pickford. Still should have laid it off to Ramsey for an easy one. 8 extra minutes looming.
Newcastle have looked way more functional here in the second and have arguably deserved an equalizer. Still lacking massively in the final thirds, however.
Heartbreaker for Elanga there as his finish dances on the line and spins out, nearly impossibly. Unreal.
Even the announcers are straight clowning Newcastle for this display. And they're spot on for it.
Newcastle treating this game like a late-week training session and getting the results they deserve.
Newcastle not valuing possession, second to every 50-50 ball, and allowing entirely too much traffic in their own box. The frustration continues to mount at SJP amid growing concern that Jaissle is in over his head.
Just don’t see how Steichen avoids being fired tomorrow. They’re down 35 points and he’s still not putting in Richardson. This team has checked out.
That’s a Cam Newton-level effort on a fumble recovery attempt from Josh Downs. He literally jumped away from the ball. Bench that clown.
Simply not trading Jonathan Taylor for less than a first if I’m the Colts. Too much value and too many suitors to take less, honestly.
Nice to watch a Wolfpack team that seemed like it had a second-half plan and adjustments. Congrats to a State staff and team after what must have been a difficult week.
With Bo Bichette opting to stay with the Mets, NY should move him to second and find a third baseman who can mash this offseason. The lineup needs another legitimate power bat.
1 step forward, 1.5 steps back is the story of the season for Newcastle. The only constant has been the overall ineptitude of the back line.
Jeffrey Simmons is straight up a dominant player on the interior. Two 1sts and a 4th is a wild price for a 29-year-old DT, but I totally get the swing by the Bears here. Will be fascinating to see how it plays out for both teams.
The Josh Downs trade "request" never needed to be made public. The Colts weren't going to re-sign him at the contract he'll want anyway and have been motivated to move him, so all he's done is lower his trade value and (marginally) damage his own reputation. Unnecessary.
Glad Dave Doeren got one final opportunity to address State fans. Appreciated his tone, composure, and message, and I thought he -- unsurprisingly -- handled it incredibly well. Best wishes, Coach.
I get the segment of Colts fans who will be upset that Buck and Q only brought back a 3rd, a 4th, and a 5th, but I appreciate that it appears Indy was willing to take slightly less to ensure those two landed with teams that were legit championship contenders. Tough but necessary decisions.
I'm old enough to not understand the point of Pat McAfee and old enough to definitively not want to.

For what it’s worth, the Cardinals are getting screwed by the officials in a million different ways against the Broncos.
Special work to get fired by an interim coach less than a day after he got the gig. 💀
Low-key really important result for Jaissle. The last few performances weren’t going to be tolerated by the fan base.
Jaissle waiting too long to get subs in here. Reinforcements needed for Newcastle.
Flurry continues for Newcastle as Dedic makes a lovely cutback to Barnes for a pretty finish. 2-0.
Stellar ball in from Joelinton and deft finish from Willock, but apparently he was slightly offsides. Gutting.
