Budweiser introduced its BUD MAN character in 1969, and my family collected posters & stickers & steins & salt shakers throughout the '70s because, c'mon, the name. A highlight: a 1976 set of bicentennial stickers, with Bud Man in a series of iconic Revolutionary War scenes. America!

Scans of the six BUD MAN stickers that Budweiser produced for the bicentennial, with the Bud Man character in different Revolutionary War tableaux, mostly wearing a tricorne: holding a lantern à la Paul Revere, repairing the cracked Liberty Bell, playing a flute, marching with a Budweiser flag, crossing the Delaware on a boat, and sewing a Budweiser flag à la Betsy Ross.

So sorry to hear about Om Malik's passing. He was one of the very early, and influential, tech reporters. I was fortunate to have had the chance to know him in person. A big loss to Silicon Valley, and to the tech community.

#Update: SF couple (with small child) got a notice on their door, telling them rent at their two-bedroom unit in the Richmond District would be going up from about $3,000 to $7,000 a month in September. An SF supervisor reached out to an attorney, who says he’s now helping.

#Update: Elizabeth Holmes has had a year of her sentence removed. US District Judge Edward Davila just took 12 months off of her original sentence of 11 years and three months. The reduction is from a 2023 amendment affecting certain offenders with no prior criminal history.

#Breaking: Verdict in the Elon Musk Twitter case: -Jury rules that Musk defrauded (intentionally misled) Twitter investors by disparaging the company in 2022, trying to buy it for less than his original $44 billion bid. Damages to be determined.
