The Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 The major sporting event takes place from 23 July to 2 August, with thousands of athletes and spectators set to arrive in the city.

Emergency services continue to tackle a large wildfire, more than two kilometres wide, near Glenmore in the Cairngorms National Park. A number of homes and businesses have been evacuated as a precaution due to the fire's proximity.
