Earlier today, the discarded upper stage of a Falcon 9 rocket impacted on the Moon. As part of a coordinated observing campaign, our Very Large Telescope detected spectral lines of sodium and lithium gas in the impact plume lasting for 5-10 minutes after impact. 🔭 🧪 📷 ESO/C. Schmidt et al. 1/4

Getting ready for Starship test flight #13 - the main thing they want to fix on this flight is the Raptor v3 reliability with failures on both stages last time. SpaceX has to be responsible and can't send Starship to orbit until it can be 100% sure it can bring it back in a controlled manner.

I passed my instrument rating test today, had to actually fit under IFR because the airfield we wanted to use had clouds in the missed approach course. Had a lot of weird ATC issues, but I flew the plane and handled the problems.

For Artemis III SpaceX won't deliver the planned Lunar Starship, instead they'll use a regular V3 starship with an extra docking adapter.

The NTSB have a preliminary report on the 767 that hit a lamp post in Newark. The pilot reported he was intentionally aiming for the lower part of the glide slope and ended up below that.

NASA has finally confirmed that MAVEN is lost and not recoverable, months ago it emerged from behind Mars and a fragment of telemetry suggested it might be spinning fast.
