Long weekend dysphoria continues. Shall I see a movie? Is it raining? Is there a bus? Is the market open? Is anything special happening uptown? No idea. I think I’ll try walking to the market and maybe get hot chocolate and read for a bit.

Another productive low effort, low consciousness day as I just groggily got up from a late afternoon nap to stagger down the studio and listen to the last of Area 506 and work on comics like I usually do on Sunday nights.

I miss the kids this long weekend but it’s almost shocking how much housework I got done this morning. That said I would much rather be making sugar cookies as usual and look forward to resuming the normal routine :)

Having a productive low effort day. Did the weekly parkrun, another 30 minute 5K which is kind of a baseline I like to try for. Cleaned the studio and can see the floor again. Ate a donair and fries. Tinkered with a card game and the comic I’m working on. Might split it into two 24 page comics?

Was not expecting to hear Wheatus do a Rush cover but no complaints here (it’s “Time Stand Still”, which I think most of the crowd is too young to know)

Checking out the new playlists added to the Criterion channel/site and just discovered a Ringo Lam collection, there’s my weekend sorted. Starting City on Fire now.

It’s a rare long weekend where my younger kids are away and I have no idea what to do with all this time. Catch up on some housework and cooking and admin I suppose. Maybe make something?

It amuses me that I have one Star Trek t-shirt (the Ritos shirt from Lower Decks) and at least 3 Buckaroo Banzai shirts plus patches to put on other clothes

Sorry to report that once again DC Comics has rejected my Batman event pitch, “No Chill for Joe Chill”

Decided to have some fun tonight and work on the new parts of my card game thing Story Mode, deciding what broad categories to do as expansions. Took no time at all to write half of a horror theme deck so looks like that’s a winner. Next likely option is Romance, then SF, then Mystery. Maybe..all 4?

Decided to watch the new Aang movie on Paramount, it’s not bad. Would be happy to get one or two of these a year at different stages of Aang and Korra history like they’ve done with comics.

Unwinding after another busy week. Looking forward to a long weekend of rest, making stuff, maybe watching some movies.

Good lord I hate this latest episode of Strange New Worlds. The fact that I recently rewatched Event Horizon probably doesn’t help. I’m not into gore when it comes to all ages franchises, like Trek and Star Wars and Marvel. Like, what is this Temu Miike shit

Quiet evening in the studio, organizing and scanning pages for the comic in progress, and I think I am going to expand the pagecount ever so slightly to a 36 page book plus cover. It’s a lot of work but it feels like the right thing to do.

Kids in bed. They saw me walk the pride parade today which was nice, and I ran into some old friends. Donut dough rising and Final Destination 2 on tv. It’s been just about 6 months since I moved back to the John and I’m in a much better place all around. ❤️
