Yan Diomandé was playing high school football in the USA four years ago and is now about to join Real Madrid for €135 million. That is one of the defining examples of what makes football special and incredible. No other sport produces such varied pathways and meteoric rises.

Konstantinos Karetsas, Joane Gadou, Kauã Prates and Justin Lerma all signed in the same transfer window. Have we go the old Borussia Dortmund back?

Middlesbrough really like shopping MLS, don't they? We'll be seeing increasing emphasis on MLS as a buying market for European clubs in the coming years, and Middlesbrough getting promoted to the Premier League with a core of MLS-developed players would only expedite that.

We told you so about Mamadou Sangaré. Less than a year on from his move to RC Lens, he's already on his way to the Premier League for almost €50 million — as Llew Davies predicted last summer.

Extract from Llew Davies' "SCOUTED’s favourite summer transfers" from August 2025 which highlights Mamadou Sangaré's transfer to RC Lens, picking out his "popular profile" and predicting a move to the Premier League in a year or two.

The extract is set against a white background with yellow highlights.

When Mamadou Sangaré moves for a mega fee to the Premier League, take note of who RC Lens replace him with. Good recruitment is often followed by good recruitment.

Staggered there hasn't been any substantial chatter around Giannis Konstantelias so far this summer. He was one of the most exciting young(er) players we watched last season. He does things that get you up off your seat.

Manchester City finally triumphed over Chelsea in their long-running rivalry to win the FA Youth Cup in the 2019/20 season. While only Luke Mbete remains on the books at City, three have since swapped side to Chelsea — Cole Palmer, Liam Delap, and now Morgan Rogers.

People think that Bournemouth are signing Álvaro Rodríguez to replace Eli Junior Kroupi when, actually, their skillsets complement each other really well and would make for a fun and effective big-man-little-man relationship. Rodríguez the target, Kroupi the sniper.

One of our favourite transfers of the summer so far is Bobby Clark returning to Derby County for £6 million. A chance to build on a strong 2025/26 season, showcasing a dynamic skillset that has similarities to the best English midfielders. At 21 years old, he's a Premier League player in waiting.

17-year-old Gilberto Mora showing for and demonstrably demanding the ball on the biggest stage of his career by a big margin to date. Plenty of personality.

Millwall are fast becoming one of our favourite clubs to keep tabs on during the transfer windows. Almost every player we see them linked to pops up with good readings and ratings in our SCOUTED database. Fun and interesting scouting and recruitment.

Johan Manzambi is a premium talent. The 20-year-old Swiss midfielder doesn't just contribute to multiple phases, he sequences them together. His tackles lead to dribbles, then carries, then passes, then shots; he moves the ball up the pitch, often all on his own. More in Volume I: bit.ly/4anAvDm

Diego Aguado is a name to remember. Every time we watch him, all we see is a left-sided defender that has loads of qualities that scale to the elite level. Mobility and adaptability on both sides of the ball, with quality to progress and tenacity to defend. High-level future.

If Chelsea want to sign multiple right-sided defenders this summer, then clubs should be scrambling up to get 20-year-old Josh Acheampong. If he becomes available, competition should be fierce to sign one of the most extraordinary defensive talents in football. He is a unicorn.

"Josh Acheampong is the one on this whole [SCOUTED50] list that has the most breakout potential for next season.

"If you put him in the right team, whether that’s at Chelsea or elsewhere, I think he can go to the highest levels very quickly and become one of the most popular players anywhere in Europe.

"He is a unicorn defender. What he does with and without the ball, for his size, for his mobility, just technically unbelievably talented on both sides of the ball. There’s so much potential there."

Millwall raiding Rodez again for Taïryk Arconte has a good chance to look like shrewd business in a couple of years. A 22-year-old coming off a breakout season in Ligue 2, scoring 14 goals in 30 games. Fast, direct, and extremely intense in his darting runs off the shoulder and driving carries.

When the elite clubs continue buying and buying and buying, the other clubs should prioritise signing the elite clubs' academy players. Don't settle for the crumbs brushed off the table, focus on the gems that are growing underneath them. There are countless opportunities across Europe.
