I've lived my whole life in the US PNW. Travel, sure. We have a ton of conifer trees. Those pics of valleys forested with nothing but deciduous trees turning red, orange and yellow every #fall? We don't have valleys like that, and hard to find an acre like that. This is our fall foliage.

Big tree in red and orange fall foliage on top and along outside branches, bit still green leaves below and in the middle. Taken 1st weekend of October 2026.Same big tree in fall foliage as other pic, but taken second weekend of October 2026. Red leaves all over the place. Barely any green left on innermost branches. Majority of green leaves are on other trees and plants.Leaf covered sidewalk beneath the big tree in other two pics. All red and orange and brown leaves. Taken second weekend of October 2026.

Exactly my experience! This duology is extremely enjoyable. Even the parts that didn't have me genuinely laughing out loud and busting a gut IN PUBLIC had me grinning ear to ear. This is one of those that made me want to read faster to learn what happens &, simultaneously, slow down just to enjoy.

I finally got the chance to review the hilarious fantasy novel, Everybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me by @djangowexler.bsky.social. An amazing novel that had me laughing the entire way through, this book comes highly recommended. unseenlibrary.com/2026/10/11/e...

OMG! The cafe's barista gave me the pumpkin mug again! I'm irrationally excited whenever I'm lucky enough to get it. Yay! And with my partially eaten pumpkin streudel, Halloween sweatshirt and flannel jacket on, it's just the perfect fall morning. 😁🎃😁

I got my annual flu shot. Now I'm protected from all your coughing and sneezes! Still, you really need to wear a mask when you're sick. When I see someone clearly sick and not wearing a mask I always think "You survived a global pandemic and learned... nothing? Seriously?!?!"

I finished critiquing a book! My crit partner knows who they are and which book. Now to put my thoughts together and write up an overview for my crit partner. That will take a few days. Do others do this? I'll note my thoughts on character arcs, plot development, storylines, etc. #writingcommunity

Update: I'm home now! Well, back in my own neighborhood. Day 2 of a 4 day weekend, recovering from burnout. I visited this nice little bookshop called "Hidden Worlds", at Orenco Station in Hillsboro, Oregon. They opened a month ago and stock only scifi and fantasy. Nice owner, lovely bookshop.

Finally! A nice, cool #fall day. Temp high is to be 61 F, and maybe some rain in the next 3 hours. Much more fall, than the last few days in the mid - high 70s. A perfect day for a walk to the light rail and ride to the western end of the line to visit an area of PDX I've never been to.

What's your favorite #Halloween / #Fall (Autumn) movie from childhood? The cafe is playing children's Halloween movies of late. Last weekend it was The Addams Family (1991) and today it was Hocus Pocus 2 and then Casper (1995). The 1st and 3rd are among my childhood faves.

Here's #catpics #cats to brighten your day. Fable (ginger) and Myth (black) rarely play together, so it's exciting when they do! This went on for 1 whole minute and simply ended with both walking away. (Their play usually lasts for 10 seconds and ends with hisses and Myth escaping onto a cat tree)

I finished the big project Tuesday afternoon, so work was much better yesterday. Still, I need a break. Hey! what's that? 2 vacation days scheduled for next week? Let's just move them up to this week. Thank you managers! Now I get to kick back and relax all the way to Sunday. *Sigh. I need this.

It's 2:30 on Tuesday. I work M-F and I'm already utterly burnt out. Been trying to read an 11 page doc for the past 30 minutes. I can't focus. For writer friends, I made 28 comments on a 1700 word doc + edits to the text. It's 1 of 30 docs I've looked at and similarly marked up in the past week.

520 words written on the scifi 🔱 novel's Chapter 7 before work this morning. Yesterday was an absolute slog. The chapter's opening is going to need some work. I may end up deleting the conversation I wrote today, but it's fun and I'm tired and I can't edit or delete what's not there. 🙂 #amwriting

Ugh. I am so done with work today. Weekend was wonderful and relaxing. Came back to work and the big ugly project. I can finish today! Except all my energy disappeared by noon. I got a second wind and powered on. But, third wind? Here third wind! I need you!!

I plan to write 500 words on the scifi 🔱 novel's Chapter 7 of 30+ each morning before work this week. Today, I got in 546 words. It was a struggle and I don't like it. That's how this whole chapter is going to feel, I think. Still, I have to put something down in order to rewrite it. #amwriting
