If something can suddenly be made safer for kids, why can’t it be made to be safer for everyone?
If AI disappeared tomorrow, my work day gets so much easier, more satisfying, more productive, just better. And with a printed thesaurus or webpage I could add even more good words.

Just your regular reminder that: 1) Almost everyone has an underlying health issue if you look hard enough 2) People with underlying health issues don't deserve to die for eating lettuce 3) We should be strengthening, not weakening our regulatory processes. And properly funding them.

Hypervisible @hypervisible.blacksky.app · 5d agoCompanies are all in on selling folks the idea that it’s in your best interest for your products to “know you” as if you are getting a dedicated servant but what you are really getting is a spy.
It’s weird reading job posts on LinkedIn. “Oh this sounds interesting.” Then the whole second half of the post is about how you will use AI to do the interesting things about the job. At the same time others are canceling commitments to AI and rehiring people.

Are ‘Magic Eye’ posters at the beach boardwalk still a thing?
A huge part of being an undergrad is *discovering* ways of thinking and experiencing the world that are outside of all their expectations and understandings. Boiling our offerings down to a homogenous sludge of career-oriented boilerplate is the polar opposite of that.
I keep seeing this Western Kingbird just down the street, but want it to come a little closer this way…

I keep hearing people say that you can tell a lot about a person based on how they speak of the dead, but I would argue that you can tell a lot more about a person based on what they did when they were alive.
