I was seven in '76 and I've been a Phillies lifer ever since. Levittown kid, NJ teen, PNW since 1997. #StratOMatic fanatic, Shrine of the Eternals voter, former right fielder.
Stopping by to visit Jamie Moyer's Mariners Hall of Fame plaque.
#HBD Julio Franco, 68 today. I often imagine what it would have been like if the Phillies had kept him and Sandberg and had that double play combo throughout the 80s and 90s.
The real GOAT was born in Philadelphia 90 years ago today.
If any of you are on FB and want to meet some other cool baseball freaks, stop by my Baseball Cranks clubhouse. Small but mighty. www.facebook.com/groups/10470...
It's Graig Nettles' birthday today, and I was shocked to learn that he doesn't have a plaque in Monument Park. How is that possible, #Yankees fans?

I wish I knew the story behind this photo. Boone, Bowa and Manny Trillo are all avoiding eye contact while Dallas laughs and laughs. I imagine him chewing out the pitcher who just got pulled from the game and being quite satisfied with himself while everyone else just feels awkward.
#BOTD Dallas Green, August 4, 1934 – March 22, 2017. 8 year big leaguer, Phillies P 1960-64; director of player development, 1972-79; MGR 1979-81. Stole Ryne Sandberg from us when he became Cubs GM. I eventually forgave him.

@thesmallhallpod.bsky.social The next time you do one of those episodes where you consider non-Hall of Famers, I'd love to hear what you guys make of Harry Stovey.
#BOTD John Vukovich, July 31, 1947 – March 8, 2007. 10 year big leaguer, Phillies IF 1970-71, 1976-81; Coach 1988-04. Phillies Wall of Fame 2007.
EVERY SINGLE GAME is blacked out on MLB TV today. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Fck MLB, fck Rob Manfred, and fck NBC/Peacock. Bastards.
#HBD Gary "Sarge" Matthews, born July 5, 1950 in San Fernando, California. 16 year big leaguer, Phillies LF 1981-83. 1983 NLCS MVP. 1973 NL Rookie of the Year for the Giants. Phillies color analyst, 2007-13.

I've been doing a deep dive on 19th century baseball, especially the 1880s, including the American Association. What are some online resources (articles, websites, videos) that you can recommend. Obviously, I've been reading a lot on the SABR Biography Project pages, what else is out there?
What is the benefit/appeal of this phased All-Star voting? Why not just let it run until its conclusion and have one set of results?

Phillies announcers talk about Nap Lajoie like he's some obscure guy and have never head of the Players League.
#BOTD Curt Simmons, May 19, 1929 – December 13, 2022. 20 year big leaguer, Phillies P 1947-60. 3x All-Star, Whiz Kid, Phillies Wall of Famer 1993.
