Indie gamedev studio working on 3 Wickets In Hand, a cricket card-and-dice duel game inspired by 150 years of test cricket and pokemon

it's been a minute with hectic new agency day job and building systems for my wife's business. but we're chipping away at v0.2! you can.. probably guess where this is going. these base assets are used in lots of games already but they fit perfectly already with only small tweaks. #gamedev #blender

a #gamedev story i awake from a feverish dream with a new idea about how to fix the compiled build and get it running for the first time, it's finally out to alpha testers. they're already gleefully finding critical, glaring bugs that I had no clue about... thx for that...

Tonight's #godot #gamedev session includes all sorts of changes: state machine, UI tweaks, decks, titles, bg for transition phases, Extras cards working in scoring phase.. i'm gonna play this build with my kids tomorrow and i'm really looking forward to it ✨ can't wait for them to break it haha

Well I just finished playing through my first proper end to end game with the new shiny state machine. It's quite buggy still but it's another of those moments that makes the #gamedev toil worthwhile. Now onto individual card effects... and a million bugfixes and visual updates. then 3d 😵🎉🐱‍🐉

New hand animations, I dig it! Still working on that dice select UI though. It's being an arse, and there is a lot of work left to go there. But glad to make progress in any case. I'm learning that's all #gamedev really is- an hour of ideas, and then a year of incremental gains 😅

No #gamedev update today but thought I'd share my github contributions chart lol. This gives me satisfaction, even though it's only representative of a couple of weeks of work. No design work is on here, that's what I was hammering away at earlier in the year.

I think this is a powerful statement. It's not just AI helping with code or assets. The empowerment you have now as a #solodev is the real unlock for me. As a designer I have agency to bring my concepts to life - and the fact I can get it to 90% with AI code tools & open source engine.. thread/

Solo devs now have more reach than 10-person startups from 2010. Tooling simplified, distribution multiplied, coordination overhead vanished. Limiting factor is taste, not resources.

Good: CSV data parser working! Bad: The card UI rendering bugs are super annoying and in my face and I have to fix them NOW otherwise every time I see them it will be like feeling a pebble in my shoe. My brain is so cool and good and I'm such a useful person lmao /s #gamedev #godot

No gif today, just a quick snapshot of progress on the card layout. Going well with this but need an early night 😴💤✨ been a full on week and continuing tomorrow. enjoying making incremental progress on the game, impatient for it to be done!! it's just one literal brick at a time. #gamedev

now we are broadcasting data, jiggling off edges and other dice, mass, gravity, linking through to basic card UI, and catching the dead ball too! wow dice dynamics are actually super complicated who knew sheesh. but im motivated now. steady stackin green cubes #gamedev #godot

the d8 is in play ✨ could keep adjusting sprites to get them perfect but this is fine for 1st iteration. next up- dynamics, dice settling check and outputs! every step forward with this feels great, ngl. feels significant. finally got some github cubes in my graph lol #gamedev #gamedesign

My giddy aunt, I exclaimed!! loudly! when this worked properly. These are only the D6s but they are coloured and labelled correctly! I'm gonna tweak the dickens out of the colours, typography, rotations etc to make things legible & include low vision folks. but OH MY GOD IT WORKS #gamedev
