Seed the Commons is a San Francisco-based organization that works to create sustainable and just food systems that are independent of animal exploitation. https://seedthecommons.org/

The People’s Summit Declaration integrated some our language! For the 1st time in a global civil society declaration of this scope: 🐄 Animal ag is treated as part of the fossil fuel system. 🌍 Methane is linked to agriculture and land use. 🛑 "Regenerative grazing" is listed as a false solution.

🚨 At the Santa Marta conference on fossil fuel transition, we pushed for a model that is constantly excluded from official negotiations: food systems centered on animal-free ecological farming. 🌱

Graphic with photo of stage and following text: Before Santa Marta, there was no civil society declaration of comparable scope that treated livestock methane as politically nameable, that placed industrial animal agriculture inside a transition framework, that promoted animal-free ecological farming and linked it to land liberation as climate strategy, and last but not least, that challenged regenerative grazing as a false solution.
