Last week was the annual fall meeting for the Midwestern Radioactive Materials Transportation Committee in Minneapolis, where I gave remarks about Minnesota's nuclear past, present, & future. I'm grateful for Rep. Shelley Buck's words about Prairie Island & our Tribal neighbors.
Senator Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger
@senamandahj.bsky.social
Proud Senator to the Minnesota Senate for the people of South Maplewood and Woodbury (district 47).
I attended the International Legislators Forum in Fargo this week. The main topics were data centers (very timely) and the large river diversion infrastructure project. I'm excited to share what I've learned so we can craft better policy in my community and in Minnesota.
About a week ago, I got to see the latest cohort graduate from Xcel Energy's Home Energy Career classroom training! Partnering with the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE), students complete a four week training with wraparound services to help them in the job market. Congrats, Ladif! 🎓
It's always fun to connect with people at the Senate booth at the Great Minnesota Get-Together!
This week I attended the Council of State Gov-MW Leg Conf. Sessions included the READ Act, AI, & data centers. The Energy & Environment Committee discussed "build your own power." I'm grateful it was in St. Paul so I could attend, go to Woodbury Days, & see my kids off on their first day of school.
It's going to be an exciting start to the school year for Woodbury students 🏫 I got the opportunity to check out construction progress at East Ridge HS, Lake MS, Woodbury HS, and Woodbury MS. Hanging out with Rep. Shelley Buck was cool, too! Thank you, staff of SoWashCo schools ❤️🍎

Happy 80th Independence Day, India! 🇮🇳 It was a great day to celebrate at India Fest🎉 I love being part of a community with such vibrancy.
Pulling the plug on fraud 🔌 Cryptocurrency kiosks now banned in Minnesota!
Donating blood is another way to help members of our community, and donor banks are at emergency low levels. Check out www.redcrossblood.org or www.mbc.org/donate-blood/ to see what fits your schedule.
Open Cupboard fills a vital gap for people in need. Their marketplace style food shelf works w/ grocery stores, small farmers, & donors to provide fresh produce & other essentials. But the need is only getting bigger. We need to address core issues & provide ongoing funding.
This Independence Day is America's 250th year, a milestone to reflect on where we've been & where we're going. Celebrating this semiquincentennial, may we recommit ourselves to the ideals of liberty, equality, & democracy, & continue building a country that lives up to those values for everyone.
@Representative Shelley Buck, @Representative Ethan Cha, and I had a great Session Recap Town Hall. We talked about how happenings at the Capitol impacted our community. I appreciated the respectful dialogue, insightful questions, and engaging conversation.
When I think of Melissa: 1. I miss her leadership & coy smile. 2. "Andy, stand by your desk & stand normal!" 3. I was fan-girling & nervous w/ her in my whip group. 4. Her courage to take the hardest vote to keep her word, & avoid a government shutdown. 5. I'm going to keep following her example.
Join us for a Session Recap Town Hall on June 24th from 6-7 pm. Please RSVP for location information (bit.ly/4ujN0GQ). See ya there!
It was a good first session, especially with these colleagues who showed me the ropes, answered my questions, trusted me with legislation, and worked together to protect what we've accomplished, respond to actions from the federal government, and recover from Metro Surge.
It was amazing to be on an AARP Town Hall call w/ over 4,000 people to talk about my favorite bill this-banning cryptocurrency kiosks! Grateful for the help of Det. Lynn Lawrence, Woodbury PD, Alex (my first LA), the House, & the rest of the crew. Protecting Minnesotans by addressing consumer fraud.
This spring's Public Safety Campus groundbreaking happened because the legislature authorized a local sales tax increase that the voters approved to implement. It's a great example of our community supporting the people and services that keep everyone in Woodbury safe.
This bill is very meaningful; funding to Helping Paws (where Melissa & Mark Hortman found Gilbert) to train & raise a litter of puppies to be service dogs for people w/ disabilities or PTSD. Colin & Sophie said a good way to honor their parents was to do something to make the world a little better.
This is the first of some of my favorite bills passed this session - $2 million in bonding for La Lake! The updates to this park will show how much of a gem La Lake is to the whole region.
Welcome back, Upper Afton Fire Station! 🚒 Thank you, neighbors, for your advocacy, and Woodbury Public Safety, for your service across our community.
Checked out the ISD 622 (one of the three school districts I represent) State of the District tonight, got a student guided tour of Tartan High School, and watched some multicultural performances. I love our vibrant and diverse community!
One of my favorite things is seeing kids pursue their ideas, and knowing they're on their way to being great.
We're able to help government services run better when we hear from public employees. Thanks for your advocacy!
The annual Woodbury Memorial Day ceremony is always a special time for our community to come together to honor the soldiers who never made it home. This year featured a fly-over of T-6 Texans!
As the school year comes to a close, I'm reminded of the curious students that tour the Capitol, and the educators that advocate for them 🏫🎓
Proud to represent South Maplewood and Woodbury!
I am immensely grateful for my rockstar Legislative Assistant, Emily! She is a scheduler extraordinaire, personable and helpful to constituents, keeps me going, and swaps mom stories with me ❤️ #district47forever
Shout-out to my office's incredible intern, Riley! She has been an amazing researcher, constituent outreach, and general help for my LA and me. I wish her the best of luck with her summer internship in DC! Look out, this girl is going places!
Thank you to our Sergeants-at-Arms, who kept a watchful eye this session.
