(soon to be) Chief Meteorologist in Omaha. AMS CBM #983 This will be weather, dog, sports, music, and husband content mostly.

Most of the metro was in the 1.5-3.5” range for rain totals over the last 24 hours. Officially, the airport was over 3”! I’m delighted to see our new house drained well, and the basement is dry. I hope you had our same luck!

Making good on the “you might lose some sleep from thunder” part of my forecast. Locally 2-4” of rain is possible from the south metro to the south and east through Wednesday.

I love devoting a solid 45 minutes to an explainer graphic, and when I’m almost at the finish line, I think: “Man, this is awesome…but is it going to suck on tv?”

Midday Tuesday update: The rain has been north of Omaha through most of the morning. We did get that early wake up call around 6am… Expect that rain around Grand Island to reach the metro later this afternoon, most likely starting around 3-4pm

Having my morning coffee, and this falls off the back of a passing truck, right in front of our house. I’m leaving it out there in case they realize it and retrace steps…but I lowkey want it.

Yes, I know parts of the metro got 1-2" of rain last night, but this point still stands. Officially, the rain at Eppley yesterday was about the same amount from the previous 39 days COMBINED. We will stay dry for a few days, and then more welcome rain is possible Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Oh no, our espresso machine is getting wet!” is not something I ever thought I’d say while at a live shot. At a school supply drive, and a kind old woman dropped off a new espresso machine for late night severe weather coverage 😳😅

Scattered storms Thursday morning, widespread storms Thursday night. I bet there will be warnings as that line moves into eastern Nebraska. Heavy rain and strong winds would be the main impacts.

Just had a coworker apologize to me because their uncle tried sliding into my DMs. Men on the Internet: undefeated at being awful, regardless of sexuality

I’ve been in Nebraska for almost 4 months. My acclimation level? I just had in depth conversations about several specific farming families who live in small communities northwest of Omaha.

Watching cumulus clouds grow east of Omaha. A few of these could become downpours, and back into the metro this evening. The closest rain us at the moment is around Missouri Valley and Underwood.

11am update… congrats Sarpy County! Some of you are getting a downpour though midday! It’s always a roll of the dice to see how long the “rain keeps bubbling up to the east” trend continues. Usually it shuts off around noon.
