Congratulations to Lynn Meeder on winning a poster prize at the CataLysis Networking Conference 2026 in Weimar for her poster "The self-consistent tangent nudged elastic band method"! The conference brought together around 200 researchers from Germany's catalysis-focused CRCs and TRRs.

Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Greta Patzke (University of Zurich) for her inspiring lecture "Catalysts for Energy Conversion: From Design to Mechanisms"! The talk highlighted the importance of catalyst reorganization during reactions and discussed strategies to promote these transformations.

At this week's joint AC Kolloquium/CRC 1633 Seminar, Prof. Dr. Abhishek Dey (Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata) presented exciting insights into catalytic CO₂ conversion and selectivity control! Many thanks also to Prof. Dr. Franc Meyer for hosting the seminar!

Yesterday, Prof. Dr. Holger Dobbek from the Humboldt University of Berlin held the first CRC 1633 seminar for the SoSe 2026. His insights and enthusiasm about nickel- and iron-containing carbon monoxide dehydrogenase and bioorganic chemistry were inspiring!

The CRC 1633 recently met at Hofgeismar for our yearly retreat, bringing together all research groups to discuss current projects, strengthen collaboratoins, and explore new ideas. Many thanks to our keynote speakers, Prof. Reinhard Maurer and @winald-kitzmann.bsky.social!

The final CRC 1633 seminar of this semester featured Prof. Dr. Francesca Toma (Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon) on converting carbon dioxide and biomass waste into value-added products, highlighting approaches to transform waste products into useful chemicals. Thank you for the inspiring exchange!

Prof. Dr. Sonja Herres-Pawlis from RWTH Aachen University gave a talk on “News on the electron transfer at Tyrosinase models”, followed by an informal exchange with female early-career researchers on gender-related career topics. Many thanks for the valuable insights!

We just wrapped up this year’s SFB 1633 Seminar Series with a fascinating talk by Prof. Dr. Helmut Zacharias on Chirality-induced Spin Selectivity. Thanks to everyone who joined us throughout the year and happy holidays to all!

Many thanks to Prof. Dr. Müge Kasanmascheff for her insightful talk on “Water as Modulator of Electron Transfer and Activity in Biological Systems”! Afterwards, she offered a relaxed coffee chat to talk about her experiences in science, career paths, and opportunities for women in research.

Understanding tunneling is fundamental to understanding PCET processes and their reactivity. We are grateful to Prof. Dr. Johannes Kästner for shedding light on this topic in his talk “Tunneling Processes in Chemistry Simulated with Instanton Theory” as part of the SFB 1633 Seminar Series.

From Nov 3-7, MINT-EC students joined us for a science camp on sustainable electrochemistry at the XLAB Göttingen. Vivian Keune (Prof. Waitz), Ajdin Velić (Prof. Meyer), Anne Goetz and Katharina Oelschlegel (Prof. Schneider) introduced the students to key PCET concepts through hands-on experiments.

Our second Method Course took place on Nov 5–6! Prof. Dr. Siegfried Waldvogel and Dr. Darryl Nater introduced participants to electrosynthesis through an engaging lecture and hands-on demonstrations. The program also included a tour of the MPI for Solar System Research networking opportunities.

Kicking off this semester’s SFB 1633 Seminar Series, Prof. Dr. Benjamin Dietzek-Ivanšić (University of Jena / Leibniz-IOM) delivered an inspiring talk on “Light-driven electron and proton transfer in polymers and at interfaces.” Many thanks for sharing your work with us!
