A video shared by the Rocklin Police Department shows a herd of goats en route to their next wildfire prevention job. In Rocklin, the animals are used to clear dense, flammable vegetation in high-risk areas, offering an alternative to mechanical or chemical brush removal.

The Gann Fire grew overnight to 2,100 acres as of Tuesday morning after erupting Monday evening in Calaveras County under hot, windy conditions. The fire started around 5:30 p.m. just south of Hogan Lake. It remains 0% contained, and mandatory evacuation orders are in effect. Read more below.
