Everyone has the right to a safe home. But for many, this is just a dream. Malek dreams of a new house - last year, his family were forced to flee their home in Lebanon. 1/3

Today at the Great Lakes Conference in Paris, it's essential we see an end to the neglect that has condemned so many in DR Congo. DRC is facing one of the world’s largest displacement crises globally – 5.7 million people are internally displaced, including 2 million since the start of this year.

Many of those currently being forced to flee Gaza City have been displaced 10 times already. Some people are fleeing with only the clothes on their backs. This is an assault on a refugee camp. The offensive on Gaza City must immediately end.

NRC’s team in Afghanistan are now delivering aid to families stricken by the earthquake. Our relief teams have just surveyed Chawkai & Norgal - Kunar’s hardest-hit districts. 1/3

Here in northern Mozambique, displacement camps are filled with people fleeing from not just one horror, but from several. Conflict, floods, cyclones. Here in Muadi, families who fled 4 years ago now live next to new arrivals from last month. No one is going home.

Sudan: In Zamzam Camp, North Darfur, communal kitchens have been burnt down, and parts of the camp are in ashes. About 80% of the population have fled, many on foot. Many of those fleeing have subsequently been attacked along the way. 1/3

One month after Myanmar’s deadly 7.7 quake, millions already in crisis face even greater need. Frontline aid workers press on, delivering water, shelter and protection. But the crisis runs much deeper.... 1/2

Water is life! But contaminated water kills. Here in Shasha, eastern DR Congo, people are glad to return to their ancestral lands. But they have had to drink from, and wash in, a contaminated river. NRC has rapidly responded and is working to support the community.

Baidoa, Somalia: ⬇️ Dhahira is a displaced mother of five. She was able to rebuild her life, starting with a durable shelter and a place to call home again. “This home is safety and stability for my children,” she says. 1/2

DR Congo: The war that started in January has led to an explosion of needs. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced across North & South Kivu province. They urgently need humanitarian assistance. Essential services, including healthcare, education, & security, have been disrupted. 1/4

Relieved there is less fighting in Goma, but humanitarian needs in Eastern Congo have surged dramatically. Displacement + lack of shelter, food, water means urgent intervention is required. Our @nrc-global.bsky.social teams are present & ready to provide urgent relief, but need new funding.

Extremely concerned by the escalating violence against civilians in Sudan, including the deliberate targeting of 3 key water & power stations by the RSF. Using civilian's access to water/electricity as a weapon of war is a blatant violation of IHL. This must stop. ⬇️ reliefweb.int/report/sudan...

We engage with the Taliban government in Kabul & provinces to reach more Afghans in great need, including the millions at risk of deportation from Iran & Pakistan, and for education for girls. Afghan women do not need more seminars in Western capitals, they need us to engage with decision-makers.

9 hour road-trip, through beautiful Western Afghanistan from Herat to Kandahar through Helmand. Roads are safe & we can do our work everywhere for girls & women in great need. But, our aid is limited by donors cutting funding & we must succeed in to resume education for girls beyond primary school.

The many Afghans I met at the border this week feel they live in an enduring limbo. They left in search of a better & safer life, & now return to an uncertain future in Afghanistan, facing the same unemployment, hunger, human rights violations that made them leave in the first place. 1/2

International aid has been essential in alleviating immense humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, but it is dwindling. The Afghan population is trapped in one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, and the world has turned its back: apnews.com/article/afgh...

Aid chief: Taliban decrees against women paralyzing NGO work

An aid agency chief has told The Associated Press that the Taliban's “internal debates and extreme decrees” are paralyzing humanitarian work in Afghanistan.

The ceasefire enables NRC to scale up our operations across Gaza. We call on the parties to the hostilities to continue to honour their commitments to ensure that we can reach the population of Gaza. We need full humanitarian access. ⬇️ 1/5

Din Mohammed and his family fled from war in Faryab, Afghanistan for Iran in 2020, but never got refugee status. Now, with three small children, they are deported back. "What should we do? Where should we go?". It is hard to answer. The world has turned its back to the needs of Afghans.
