TIL: somehow my driver's license has been suspended in the state of New York for the last 35 years without it materially impacting me until now.

One of the people on my art feed (Aile Kamishima, www.pixiv.net/users/2121541 ) has, for roughly the last year, been posting nothing but art of mostly-pudgy furry women playing tubas/Sousaphones. And it's kinda awesome; they figured out their niche and they're making exactly what they like. Go them!

Artwork of a somewhat chubby anthropomorphic woman, apparently bovine, in a red band suit playing a sousaphone.Artwork of what appears to be a overweight anthropomorphic dog woman (species is hard to tell) in a grey sweater and white formal shirt, playing a sousaphone.Artwork of an anthropomorphic vixen, in brown sweater and probably formal shirt, playing a tuba.

One of the small joys of being a gardener of questionable talent is that sometimes your garden will give gifts you weren't expecting. We didn't plant any daikon this year, but we did last year and this presumably grew from wild seeds from that batch.

A moderately sized (~6in) daikon radish unexpectedly harvested from the garden.

A while back, while I was doing dishes I managed to drop and break a favorite mug; no design, just a huge (it was like a soup bowl with a handle) deep blue IKEA mug that was perfect for weekends. I mentioned it to @sasta.bsky.social and we talked about the heavy self-frustration and blame of it all.

I've seen a lot of dubious and salacious Japanese puns, but this one's new to me: Japan uses カップ (kappu; "cup") for bra sizes too; "C-カップ," etc. Today I came across an image tagged スイカップ, "suikappu". スイカ (suika), of course, being Japanese for "watermelon"...

It's been an Interesting™ few days here. Saturday morning me and Jeff joined my sister for her birthday to do a puzzle hunt we'd missed when it originally ran. Somewhere towards the start of things I realized that the vision in my right eye was too blurry to be able to read clearly. (1/n)

This topic came up in another discussion earlier today. I know where I land and I suspect I know where most of you land, but I'm curious. Success is something that is... (a) almost assured if you make the right choices and do the right things. (b) largely a matter of luck when it comes down to it.
