Been working on Morph EQ for Zyphr and decided I might as well update the analyser on my site. The idea is for a listener to tweak frequencies however they want according to their environment. shawnlukas.com#analyser
Maybe loop cycling instead of the classic horizontal tracks arrangement.
Been working on Extended settings AKA Audio Node Graph, powered by Zyphr's X1 Reactive Audio Engine. Still exploring how collaboration could work.
Echoing @vilinskyy.bsky.social; “I believe my network is more important than any other asset I own. My network has thousands of resourceful people who helped me tremendously in almost every personal or professional venture.” I’m building Orbits, for the value in our human connections 💫
back to a lil bit of progress on my design tool tonight... parenting/unparenting works pretty fluidly now!
Tempted to build a small onyx MIDI keyboard. Maybe I use normal wireless QWERTY keyboard technology. I want the circuit board to be visible. The G component is the gear that triggers both (x) modulation and (y) pitch.
Been working on Sampler for the past few days. Performance could be better, especially for audio selection. Sampler is aligned to BPM, e.g., selecting an audio and slicing it with the 3rd knob of Sampler group in the control panel will randomly play your audio according to the timing of the BPM.
Multi track devices. Everything in Zyphr is states and local. The foundation of the Sound Engine is designed to react and render sound in real-time while optimising performant at the same time. The fourth design principle, haha: blocks.shawnlukas.com/assets/shawn....

Zyphr Tracks module. The mixer basically consists of volume (gain) and a multi-band compressor. Every band can be toggled on-and-off. The selection of tracks will typically reveal an instrument module on the right. More about the Tracks module here: docs.shawnlukas.com/zyphr-studio...
It gets so much worse once you start adding position too... What does a shape that 10.7 px x 10.7px positioned at (7.49, 3.22) even mean? Obviously you have to round a some point but... does figma/photoshop et all round to the device pixel? If not, how do they prevent jitter as you move?
Oh the joys of writing your own software 🙃
I’ve started working on a toy canvas editor in #gpui and wow… the amount of things you need to implement and keep straight to just get a rectangle drawn on the screen that you can select and move is just wild. I’d love to look at any reading folks at figma, tldraw, sketchapp, etc have written…
Zyphr Deck. Just to DJ music with a smartphone within the crowd.
Kinda tempted to make DJaying software on the Web for playing my ambient dance music at small parties, now that Summer is near. Can also imagine it using code made synthetic drums elements. And even more so, I want to also DJ from my smartphone.
yesterday I demo’d and launched access to orbits.so ~ and even got my first ever customer for a side project 🥹 thanks for having me FOC! 💜

So much of the local-first community is focused on the web platform, which I understand because it’s the dominant platform, but I’d love to see & hear more about LF in other contexts. Nintendo Switch, macOS, Windows, CLI, etc.
