Can't believe I almost missed this Backloggd moment
Saw a cool idea for a list talking about feelings toward different genres, so I may as well throw my hat in the ring backloggd.com/u/_Shawn/lis...
'Shawn Talks Genres' a list of games by _Shawn | Backloggd
List idea taken from SwitSwathttpsbackloggdcomuSwitSwatlistswitswattalksgenres so full credit to them for the idea Basically a rundown of my thoughts on every genre Ive tried out along with some faves...

I really gotta get back into my singleplayer stuff, but friends are wanting to play games together a LOT lately. Keep wanting to get into either game I'm working through, but the energy just ain't there at the moment.
Am I the only one who instinctively reads haha as someone actually saying ha ha instead of laughing?
I see Backloggd has quality lists today
I wholeheartedly did not expect to be saying this, but I may have a new writing gig for the first time in...well, a long time Stepping out of the professional world this time, but honestly kinda just want it to be for fun anyway. Either way, more on that soon
Definitely the sorta game that makes me hunger for its sequel backloggd.com/u/_Shawn/rev...
_Shawn's review of Gravity Rush Remastered | Backloggd
I went into Gravity Rush with a healthy dose of wonder and intrigue surrounding its world and the style of gameplay it was promising. The idea of a floating city where you can turn off gravity at will...

"Let PlayStation have a Wii U generation" goes so hard.
Seeing this makes me miss living in my old house. We used to have this big window looking over the front driveway from the second story, and you could see the sky give off these beautiful oranges and pinks in the summer. Genuinely was such a peak view

Another review done and dusted, with a new segment I'm excited to include in future reviews too :D backloggd.com/u/_Shawn/rev...
_Shawn's review of Halo: Campaign Evolved | Backloggd
NOTE: While I’m leaning slightly toward a 7 over an 8, you could consider this score to be more of a 7.5 than a 7. Halo: Combat Evolved is the one case where I was never entirely opposed to a re-remas...

Wrapped up Campaign Evolved earlier, so I should have my review out sometime later tonight. TL;DR, it's pretty good and leagues better than the Anniversary remaster, but has a handful of problems holding it back
Talked about it numerous times, but Life is Strange True Colors. It's the only game that has genuinely changed me as a person and completely changed the trajectory of my life. That, and it's a pretty good LiS game IMO If we're talking pure quality and enjoyment, then Doom Eternal
What’s your favourite video game of all time?
Nice to see that the Halo remake didn't unbelievably screw up 343 Guilty Spark like the Anniv edition did, not to mention the Library being a major improvement Definitely not perfect and the OG still has its strengths in the former, but I'm pleased at least
I dunno what I'm doing wrong this season of Rivals but if I need to heal and I'm not playing Mantis or C&D, I feel like I'm doing jack for the team lmao Jubilee I can understand since she's new and I don't got her down fully yet, but everyone else I feel way worse with suddenly
Come to think of it, I'm kinda surprised a lot of games don't have a look sensitivity test the first time you launch the same way certain audio and video settings do
Gravity Rush is an interesting game in the sense that it can be really clunky when traversing and a touch irritating when it comes to the imprecision of the combat And yet there's something deeply interesting about it that makes me want to keep playing
I don't see these sorts of reviews often, but when I do I always groan It's important to understand how to critique a game without telling the designer how to do their job. Even if your idea sounds great, the act of implementation and testing can poke very deep holes you might not have expect
As someone who's played a LOT of games, it's important to diversify rather than stick to one side. Focusing so much on the new can blind you from the genuinely wonderful games of old, while sticking to old games can blind you from the creativity of new artists There's a healthy balance to be struck
thing about “you should just play old games and ignore new ones” is i don’t feel like that argument gets made with other art forms by anyone worth taking seriously
I hate how every indie game has graphics. Genuinely, can't these people come up with new ideas? They also all have gameplay, and characters. God, indie devs are so unoriginal. People only like it because it's indieslop
Initial impressions after a few missions: Pretty good. A good handful of things I appreciate as changes, though also some very confusing changes here and there that disrupt the pacing a bit or underestimate player intelligence Still, I'm enjoying it so far

Idk why it took me this long to realize it, but I think what ultimately makes a lot of the modern day Warframe quests work so much better than past quests is that they work as self-contained stories while still serving the bigger picture
I'm realizing that starting three separate games right before Halo Campaign Evolved and a game club game for August might not have been my smartest choice. Whoops But screw it, I'll find a way to balance it. The last two are getting priority at least
ZERO COMPANY YEAH BABY WOOO ...I mean uh, Beast of Reincarnation and the new Plague Tale look neat

So I've uh....learned there was a very important item you can get in Witcher 3 that I somehow never learned about on my first playthrough. Not to mention some other smaller things I should've seen on my first run Oops.
Locked most of the time. It's way easier to get my bearings that way That said, if a minimap isn't locked I'm not heartbroken
Random gaming question! If the game has a minimap, do you prefer it locked to North OR rotating with you? Personally, I prefer locked.
