Just a guy who remembers what it's like to be a kid. I ❤️ @shezcrafti.com, Co-Host of the @CultFilmClub.com & @CrestwoodHouse.bsky.social podcasts. I run PlasticRocketPop.com

They’re tearing down the Harford just down the street from me. It’s not “my mall”, I know it’s a bigger deal to @shezcrafti.com, but over the last 10 years I’ve used it A LOT for mall-walking, so I know it very well. Sad to see it in ruins like this.

Coach Finstock: “There are 3 rules I live by… A). Never eat the crust at a pizza buffet… 2). Never trust a biographer that didn’t meet their subject, yet writes from their inner perspective… C). Always pick John Waters up if you see him hitchhiking. You only live once…

I spent the last few years binge reading. I love reading, but it's the first to fall by the wayside because of time, so I felt like I needed to make a way to fit it in. My solution was audiobooks. I have two hours of commute time a day and 4 hours at work where I can listen while working/driving.

Been chatting with a guy at work for a year or so. He’s my age and gets nerdy about Lego. Seems like a nice dude, pretty smart, kind of old school work ethic, etc. A breath of fresh air where I work honestly. But last week while talking about job security he blurts out “But fuck teachers, right?!”😳

It’s 1995 and you just came in from checking the mail. It was mostly bills for your parents, but a fat Publisher’s Clearing House envelope was in there. What four magazine subscriptions are you going to beg your folks for?

School Librarian: “Shawn, you’ve checked out the Critters Tales of Terror book every week for 30 weeks straight. Don’t you think it’s time to let someone else read about Critters?” Me: “Nope. Stamp it.”

Doctor: “I’m sorry sir, your mother passed away last night in her sleep.” Podcaster: “…” Podcaster: <texts podcast co-hosts> ‘Hey guys, just got word that we lost a third of our audience. How are your moms doing?’

I'm 37 minutes into the Supergirl movie and had to stop because kids. My question is, what was everyone's problem with this flick? It's rad so far. That is all...

Listening to a musician today equate the anonymity of a lot of electronic artists to being more punk rock than punk rock (modern I believe), and it was intriguing. The idea of letting the music be what it is without getting ego and persona in the way has a fuck the establishment purity to it…

It’s wild ya’ll, we’re doing an impromptu overnight at the Hershey Lodge and they pump chocolate aroma out into the lobby area. It’s like I’m living in a scratch and sniff sticker…

Sometimes, at night, I get stupid ideas stuck in my head that I have to bring to fruition or I can’t sleep. So I present Mumm-Ra as Lloyd Dobler in Say Anything…

For me though, the real Gold in this book was that the kid kept and stuck a bunch of old Publisher’s Clearing House and Columbia House magazine and record subscription stamps in the book! I’ve wanted to get my hands on these for years…

Sometime eBay offers up extreme treasure. Like this giant 10”x13” vintage sticker book that spans late 70s to mid 80s. The kid who owned this lived by the sticker-collecting rule: “If it sticks, it goes in the book” This will be a long thread folks… 🧵
