i'm not sure i buy that sayonara lara absolutely has to have a downer ending just because of the title, like it's the phrase that marks the start of her journey into the human world in episode 1, isn't that significant enough?
if sayonara lara had 26 episodes it should pretty much just be an extra 13 of lara trying some new activity and saying "maybe my prince will be there" and mari saying "maybe 😐" and inviting herself along
