As an update on this: it's worse than I thought. Not only are the settings here set on by default, but even if you're copying settings from a previous video where these settings are off, they turn themselves back on and have to be turned off again for every video. Stay vigilant, guys!

Heads up for anyone who streams on YouTube (or might be thinking about streaming on YT). During today's stream I noticed they've made it so vertical streaming is on by default, so if that's not something you want to happen, make sure it's turned off before you go live!

Violence against those who attempt to do us harm is justified. Against those who try to control us. Oppress us. Steal from us. But when I see the way people talk about how some offenders deserve to be treated in prison, my stomach turns. Because it's reveling in the torture of another person.

Justice asks: What needs to happen to protect people, hold a bad person accountable, and repair what can be repaired? Vengeance asks: How can I make them hurt because they made someone else hurt? Justice may involve punishment or force, but the suffering is not the point.

Retributive and punitive justice are attempts to balance the karmic scales. To provide relief and catharsis to those who have been wronged. But the older I get, the more toxic that becomes to me. The more that mindset genuinely disturbs me. Because that isn't justice. It's *vengeance.*

As I've gotten older, I'd stopped finding any catharsis in the suffering of bad people. Not that I don't want them to face justice – even violent justice if that is the only way that person can be stopped – but this collective need for retribution effectively through torture does not appeal to me.

I will add pressure to this by saying that any company that claims to not hold onto your personal data after verifying you? They're lying. Ive been nitro free since the first time they tried this, voice how you feel with your wallet people. Make them really feel that squeeze.
