The hunter’s explanation has Castiel blinking, quietly confused. As old as he is, it’s been several thousand years since he’s even thought about the day he was created — it had entirely escaped his notice that today is his feast day. How did Dean find it out? Once he gets over the +

ㅤ ㅤ He knew Castiel kept a lot to himself, although Dean was curious, he was not yet alerted of anything strange with him . He would let that slide . But the thought of him wishing for Castiel's presence was so strong that it could be considered a prayer? A call for help? —> ㅤ ㅤ

Sitting in the grass, watching a bee…

“I was in Mexico, I just cannot tell you why, Dean. We could be overheard.” He smiles the slightest bit, trying to reassure Dean that he’s not hiding things from him because he wants to. At the hunter’s self-deprecating comments, he steps forward and puts his hand in his shoulder, +

ㅤ ㅤ Eyebrows raised, for a moment confused . Until he realized Castiel was really making a joke . Wow, who would have known . “ You weren't really in Mexico, were you? You can't really deceive me anymore, Cas . ” Either way, he knew how Cas was when it came to personal business, he —> ㅤ ㅤ

Castiel’s head cocks slightly to the side, torn between perplexed and amused by Dean’s actions. At the question, a tiny smile finds its way to the angel’s face, and he attempts a joke. “I thought I would check your theory that God is on a tortilla.” A remarkably dry tease, +

ㅤ ㅤ Clearing his throat, he quickly backed away from the hug before looking around for a moment . He completely lost his words, surprised by his own actions . With a frown, Dean focused back on the angel . “ Mexico? Why? Something happening over there ? ” —> ㅤ ㅤ

The seraph blinks, a little stiff in Dean’s embrace. Whatever reaction he was expecting to his arrival, it wasn’t this. He makes no effort to escape, but also doesn’t seem to know if he should be hugging Dean back. “I was in Mexico… why? Did you call for me earlier? I received no prayers, +

“Meg.” The angel cocks his head at her— the demon who’s become his unlikely friend and ally. “Is five months and 8 days a long time?”

⠀ ⠀“ my favorite angel, @shotgunseraph.bsky.social. it has been long enough that i was starting to think about worrying. ” ⠀

“Then I am here to assist you.” Castiel is none the wiser about Sam’s true intentions here. He’s taking the younger Winchester at his word, and is, actually, a little excited to go on a hunt with him. The concept of hunting fascinates him, as do most of humanity’s solutions to their problems. +

ㅤ ㅤ As he drove on the road, he decided they would stop at the next café in town, obviously Sam was up to something else than hunting, not something he wanted to share with Cas, knowing how close he is to Dean . “ I don't mind the assistance, Cas . I still have yet to know more about you , —> ㅤ ㅤ

Being one of the lesser-known angels in the host, Castiel is very attuned to it when humans think about him. Especially Dean, whom he has such a profound bond to. Just the vague desire to see him comes through to the seraph like a prayer, and with the sound of rustling feathers, +

The angel turns a flat expression on the younger Winchester, wondering if he’s meant to answer that question, or if it’s one of the rhetorical ones he never quite catches on to. “… in Egypt? Yes, there are undoubtedly many restless spirits there.” +

ㅤ ㅤ He could feel Cas' gaze on him as he tried to remain calm and not let anything show . Unfortunately, Sam definitely could not fool an Angel, and he knew . Eyes on the road, he focused until he heard Castiel again . “ Egypt ? Holy — really wish I could go someday, somethings gotta be haunted —

Angels aren’t so easily fooled. Castiel tilts his head slightly to the side, not quite buying Sam’s explanation. But, like he said, it’s not his business to police Sam. And maybe he can help the younger Winchester more by remaining non-judgmental of him. +

ㅤ ㅤ The angel suddenly getting into his car did make Sam jump a little . Although he decided to not question it much , are they allergic to walking? He was up to some other things before running into Castiel, this might be a change of plan . “ If I can lie so my brother gets to rest just — ㅤ ㅤ

The angel is silent for a moment, considering the question while he watches Sam turn down the radio. “I don’t support your decision to hide things from your brother, Sam. But no, it’s not my job to report your business back to Dean.” +

ㅤ ㅤ Sam took a moment to look at the engine's fuel before his attention was back on Castiel . Leaning over to open up the door for him . “ I trust that you won't tell him, right ? ” He simply responded before lowering the volume of the radio . —

The angel blinks, recognizing Sam as he rolls up. What are the odds that out of everyone passing by, Sam just happens across him? … low, he decides. So perhaps it’s an act of god that put them in the same place at the same time. +

ㅤ ㅤ Lucky him, Sam was only driving by when he noticed a very familiar silhouette in the distance . As he stopped by, in the middle of nowhere, he lowered the car window . “ Did Dean leave you on timeout ? ” ㅤ ㅤ

I’ll just… wait here then. (The angel sighs, standing on the side of the road. There’s nothing for him to do until he’s needed, so, he’ll admire the night sky until someone needs him.)
