Usually Aria and Sonata are here to hold me backโฆ Oh, to hell with it.
I love being manipulative and untrustworthy, Charlie. I love being EVIIILLL!
When she approached the counter, the siren lifted her finger to Neo, motioning for her to do as she had asked. Then, she turned to the man with a hushed voice. In a voice that carried all of the elements of a serenade, she whispered something just beneath her breath. The man at the registerโ his -
Cover her ears? Wait... she heard about something like that from her old partner... Someone who could enthrall people with her voice... Did she had the same power? Neo's eyes started to shine...
โ Mm. โ Adagio nodded in agreement. But then her voice went a bit soft, a bit daydreamy, almost as if it carried hints of a song within. โ I can say that of my team as well. They have no trouble straying from my guidance anywaysโฆ Almost as if they donโt need me as much as I need themโฆ Hmโฆ โ
"They do look to me for solutions when things get too complicated, and I know the pressure when everyone expects you to make the decisions, I know this well..." She also looked down for a moment, but quickly recovered. "But my team works very well together, even when we have to separate."
โ UGH-!! Why, you littleโ!! โ The villain winces tightly at the chilling sensation, turning her head away. In the chaos, her fingers lose their grip over the plush, and it falls to the ground.
โ I can pay myself if youโd like. Just remember to cover your ears when I do. โ The siren instructed, waltzing into the establishment as if she owned the place. Her appearance turned heads. People looked absolutely enamored with her.
Neo looked over at the diner, didn't look as expensive as she had expected, not that she would complain... Neo can just make fake money to pay for her food, which is what she usually does.
โ Wellโฆ Iโm certainly envious of that. โ Adagio shrugged playfully, though with a seemingly genuine but somber smile. She took a sip of her beverage, than placed it on the table. โ As a leader, my responsibilities are a bit different. Everyone depends on me. Sometimes a little too much. As if -
"I believe anyone in my team would have done the same, and knowing they all support me really helps with the weight. Of course, I know I can count on them too, which is what makes us a team."
Itโs fatherโs day, but Iโm serving cunt like itโs motherโs day.
โ Of course. โ Adagio would glance to the broken glass, wincing like she had just eaten something that didnโt agree with her. She cleared her throat, getting it all out of her system. โ I doโฆ happen to have an ear for these things as a professional singer myselfโฆ โ
" Well, not like I'm trying to be a professional singer or anything. So I'd say it's alright for me to be bad. " Marcie shrugged. She didnt really need to be lied to. Glancing over to the broken glass. " I could use to work on it though. Keep me from doing. . . that. "
Adagio linked her arm up when it was offered, and began to make their way around a mundane but somewhat colorful neighborhood. Eventually, they passed the suburbs and approached a diner that was as familiar to her as her old home. She rose a finger to point in its direction. โ There it is. โ
Mischievousness was also part of Neo's personality, she smiled with the same energy back. She walked next to Adagio and turned around on her heels to face the same direction. The girl passed one arm around hers, and with the other, she gestured for her to guide the way.
An endless source of negativity for me to feed myself off ofโฆ I think this could work out pretty well for meโฆ
Adagio giggles, for seemingly no reason at all, then comfortably holds her glass in her hand. โ It certainly seems that way at first glance, but, youโd be surprised how few people would actually have come to the same conclusions. โ She looks to her, leaning on her elbow. โ Fewer would even be -
"Magic? Me?" She smiled a bit embarrassed now, rubbing the back of her short hair. "No, I'm just a huntress doing what is right, I believe most others in my position would do the same, sometimes I even do wonder if someone else wouldn't do a better job."
โ No, noโฆ No, not badโฆ Justโฆ โ Adagioโs words were as gentle as an unbolted ferris wheel, shaking and wavering as though she were dangling them from a tree branch, all while a facade of a smile strained her face. โ Needs work. โ
" Huh? " She looked around the room, curious. An animal dyingโ? Now Marcie just seemed embarrassed. " Was I that bad? " She let out a giggle, rubbing the back of her head.
The siren stands there in mild disbelief, as if unable to understand that the shrill noise she had just heard actually came out of a human mouth. Her hand trails down her face, and her fingers wrestle with her messy orange locks. โ Iโmโฆ so sorry. I justโฆ I thought I heard an animal dying in here โ
There was a reason Marcie's never invited to karaoke night anymore. As she turns, she spots a smiling woman in a pink jacket in the mic. Somewhere she should never be. " Oh! Hi there! " A light wave toward Adagio, as she giggled.
โ ๐๐nessie. I forgot about bills
Adagio frequents this place. For practice. Most of the time with no one else around. Itโs peaceful in that way. One of the few places she doesnโt have to mask what she really is. But, tonightโฆ She hears a noise so strong, it even pierces the walls. With a low growl, she storms over to check just -
walking up to the mic during karaoke. singing so badly, so tone deaf that glass shatters.
Adagio softly nods after allowing her to speak her piece. She lays her hands on her own lap โ then pauses for a second. Lifts her head, then speaks. โ When you hold so much on your shoulders, I think itโs easy to forget your own wants and needs, even if theyโre little. โ Her finger places itself -
certainly doesn't help either. But if we win at the end, that would be all the reward I need." She gave her a bright and tired smile, the smile of someone who has been fighting for a long time but didn't give up yet and believes in her words.
โ I certainly understand that. But, I can also understand that, even with a team to surround you, you canโt help but feelโฆ lessโฆ right? โ She spoke as if she had once felt the exact same thingโshe spoke with fatigue; years worth of it. A weight that, perhaps at one point, dragged her down.
"I wouldn't say it's lonely, I have my sister, my uncle, and the rest of my team helping me, so I don't do it alone..." But was it unrewarding?... Ruby never stopped to think about that, she did not had an answer right now for that question...
โ Sounds like a lonely jobโฆ โ Slight concern is visible upon the gingerโs face, empathetic melancholy finding its way into her voice as well. She sighs softly. โ Would you say itโs unrewarding? โ
"Not really... I travel around a lot so I don't think people know me that much..." Until she made a world-wide broadcast while in Atlas... Now a lot of people know her face... "I never really stayed in one place."
โ A huntress, really? โ Her head is angled a bit to the side, giving an intrigued, even somewhat impressed grin. She puts a little more weight on her left leg. โ You must be /extremely/ popular where youโre from. I mean, talk about a celebrity โ you must get praised all the time. โ
"Ah, me?" She pointed to herself, a bit embarrassed. "I'm a huntress. I doโฆ huntress stuff? You know, getting jobs done, saving people, and fighting monsters, just like heroes in books!" Exceptโฆ unlike heroes in books, she was far from feeling like she won anything latelyโฆ
โ Right? Youโre practically getting your own solo experience! That just means Iโll have to put a little extra effort into this concert to make it as good as it can be. โ Adagio nods, adding a chuckle into her voice. She gets up from her seat and leisurely lays her arm at her side. Then, she -
"Sounds like something my sister would love too! Her loss that she isn't here, just means I can brag to her later!"
โ A little bit of rock, a little bit of pop. People tend to enjoy it, and itโs very enjoyable to perform. I wonโt say itโs an easy job, but it is fun. โ The siren explains, gesturing back to those posters. She seems to lead the ideal life of a pop star โ one without stress or anxiety.
"I'll be very happy to see your show then! What genre of music does your group play? I assume you must be very popular around here by all the posters and all." Ruby wasn't from that region and hasn't spent enough time to learn more about it.
