We are the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC), a state agency tasked to improve the environmental, economic, and social well-being of California’s Sierra-Cascade region since 2004.

Forest restoration work around Mammoth Lakes helped reduce hazardous fuels and improve wildfire resilience across nearly 56k acres of the Inyo National Forest. The project aimed to help protect the town, surrounding forests, and the recreation economy of the eastern Sierra.

Welcome sign at the entrance to Mammoth Lakes, California, surrounded by pine trees. The sign reads “WELCOME” and features the quote, “The mountains are calling…” by John Muir. The Mammoth Lakes mountain logo and several local organization emblems appear on the right side of the structure.
