I think one of the best pieces of advice I can give to new players who /want/ to build lore for their characters but don’t know where to start is: Incorporate pieces of the game that you enjoy and that pull you in. Start there and fill in the details as you go.
I can't stress enough the importance of making shitty things. Shitty writing. Shitty art. Shitty paintings. Shitty films. Shitty songs. Shitty sculptures. Shitty is beautiful, because it's human. There's no glory without shitty. Get out there and shit things up.
Morroyo didn't die in Ghimlyt Dark. He was in Limsa evacuating refugees when Black Rose hit. Lewin was in Gridania and died to Black Rose there. Rem was the one at Ghimlyt. Lilene was in Ishgard and her body was later found next to Haurchefant's grave. 😭 Tini was in Ul'dah w/her family.

I wanted to get better at tanking and when Lewin picked up Dark Knight in Heavensward, that became his main tanking job. His personality before then was of a goody-goody Bard/Healer. I thought he looked good in the dark armour, and then Writer!Sifa started wondering how'd he be as a villain... 🤔

/2 ...and he bristled when he was being reminded of that fact. He DID have to tell them that although he was older, he certainly wasn't DEAD yet, and that he could still fight and take care of himself. He knows he's not going to be around forever, but he'll try to do the best in the time he's got.
/1 Morroyo's very aware of getting older, especially recently. It took him a while to recover after the Zenos fight in EW, and it had ramifications in DT. He's a diplomat and had to leave most of the fighting to Lewin, Kezz, Runa and Tini. It made him realize he wasn't a young kit anymore...

I get why you'd want to do this, and I obviously can't stop you from doing it. But please know I repost artists, authors, creative things, and things I think people will laugh at/enjoy like memes and weird shit. I think it's important in the place with "no algorithm" to support our own in this way

Morroyo's the type of teacher I'd like to be...patient and gentle, and lets the student discover knowledge for the sheer joy of it. He's not a self-insert, but based on two people I know IRL, and he's very Filipino-coded. He's comfortable with who he is, but he knows he isn't perfect.

Morroyo is a mentor and teacher at the Arcanists Guild in Limsa. He's also a diplomat. Lewin is a musician, but most people don't know he's also a luthier who makes instruments like lyres and lutes. He'll take select commissions, since they take a while.

People ask me if Morroyo's a self-insert. Although he's partially based on my Filipino family, he actually isn't. Most of my WoLs/OCs share some of my character traits, but they're their own characters. The closest to a self-insert is Tini. She's basically me if I didn't have any social filters. 😆

Lewin has two minions, but the funnier of the two is his cat, Orpheus. He walked up to Lewin one day in Sharlayan and wouldn't leave him alone. So Lewin ended up taking him home. He lives with Lewin and his husband Beau in their apartment in Gridania. Orpheus is VERY sassy and opinionated.
