MarniOpe! 🤬🧊

I have opinions and know stuff. Minneapolis enby witch with a pain disorder and cats. In my previous life I was a forensic psychologist. Now I garden and spread love to counteract my inner angst. I *will* call you "love." When I die, I will be released.

I had a night out with my neighbors because that's what happens on nice evenings. I don't get all cocky and close a street about it or invite the cops. I just sit in my front yard and see who drops by. It can often look like a party. Community will do that.

I am having all sorts of "duh, Mar" realizations this summer. The kind where, like, I knew. I KNEW. I'm just naming things. My brother and I were talking about how much better it is when you finally get to label things... Like colors. When you label greens, you see more nuance to the color.

When you make friends with the construction guys, they give you a share of their finds. The first he said I could have because he had two of these bottles, and he didn't know what the lid was and I did so it was my prize. They probably broke the bowl so threw out the lid when the street was paved.

I'm unable to donate anymore, but I used to be a champion donor. My first donation was a nightmare, at the high school, and it was for several others that day. Not to be deterred, I rounded them all up and we caravanned to the donation center that weekend with their best phlebotomist. Go donate!

Who is going to find time in their week this week to donate blood? The American Red Cross declared only its second ever national blood crisis in 145 years. There’s only a day’s worth of O+!

Over the last two weeks there have been continued power outages in Minneapolis. Our power grid isn't prepared for this kind of stress! It can barely handle the increase in residential AC use with the heat. What do you think they're going to do when they need more power than we have?

A Virginia developer wants to redevelop the old Star Tribune printing plan into a data center in North Loop. This is on a 13-acre site by the river. This is exactly why CM @aurinmpls.bsky.social & I authored a data center moratorium & we were told to not worry. 1/ www.startribune.com/data-center-...

My garden hose can only reach so far, so I'm really thankful for this rain. I'm glad it's a gentle rain, and that it's going to be all day. If only it could spread itself out over a couple weeks, that'd be nice.

I need y'all to hear my thoughts. Being poor is not a moral failure. Being unemployed in an economy where there are no jobs to be had is not your fault. Being considered a cog in a machine by billionaires instead of real flesh and blood is a problem when they keep telling you "life is precious."

The amount of couples I've seen twinning lately has increased. It's adorable. My husband and I have done it for a long time. It's such a small way to show affection in public. It's not something we've ever felt compelled to do - it's a giggle for us.
