Any chance anyone out there is an expert on Seneca in the original Latin? 🥲 Need a line from his Agamemnon translated (in a way 17thC readers would have done); all the online translators give goofy results and early modern translations are no help (neither is Loeb)

Saw The Odyssey last night, not bad! I liked the structure and the way the story was told; there were some nice emotional moments, plus totally awesome monster effects. Let down by absolutely atrocious dialogue. Writers/script editors need a career change. Not sure how I feel about Darth Agamemnon.

Can anyone explain to me the legal basis on which (British) libraries don't allow photos of material they hold that is comfortably in the public domain to be re-published? Doesn't seem to me that they have any legal leg to stand on, but they're often very strict. (Unlike US libraries, who are cool)

My mind is blown: I’ve only now discovered that ‘spendthrift’ means the exact opposite of what I thought it means (and what it sounds like it means). How is this possible? Had to check two dictionaries to make sure. My head hurts.
Can't read the article because of the spywall, but I always thought things like this were pretty dubious. I don't believe I ever came across a single mention of 'witches' marks' in anything written on witchcraft from the period of the witch-trials.

Well, just caught the Belgium game. Absolute belter. I guess corruption doesn't pay! US team utterly humiliated. And the great irony is that it was the controversy that fired Belgium up and depressed the US team, so Trump's intervention actually made things worse. Wonderful.
