Yesterday, at friend’s birthday, I asked her husband if he knew of any places in need of a cloud wizard and he was like “yes actually my company is about to create a cloud wizard position” and this is the most hopeful I’ve been in a bit.

Wow, drunk people are so idiotic. Leaving downtown, I watched multiple people just SAUNTER across the street when an ambulance was driving towards them at an intersection. Did they have a walk sign? Technically, yes. But that’s not how that works.

Oof. Talked with a recruiter today about a position that’s… um… attractive in that it’s a job with benefits, but I need to research the company a lot. It would save me some time if said company snoops on me enough to find out that this is my Bluesky account and finds this post to be a red flag.

Not that I had a huge amount of conviction on the matter, as my misgivings were very “idk Kaohly Her seems kinda nimby”, but I’m definitely feeling glad that I voted for Melvin Carter for Mayor rn. St. Paul would prefer to be boring again.

So my resume has been getting blasted out all over the place. What do you do if you get a probable call from a recruiter and they are supremely bad at having a phone conversation? They didn’t introduce themselves at all. Just a bunch of exchanges of “hello?” immediately after I got an email.

Had a lovely dinner at eM Que Viet and… why have we never been before?! State Fair (they have them at the fair) Garlic Cream Cheese Wontons, and a ton of vegetarian stuff. They use vegan fish sauce in their vegetarian-oriented rice noodle salads. Great cocktails, including a happy hour special.

I’ve decided that every time they say “your command” in the Warhammer vidya game @johnmaddening.bsky.social is playing, they are actually saying “yoga mat”. He’s not a fan of my ideas. But I’m sorry your undead space soldier can’t stop talking about “my yoga mat”. I bet that’s relaxing.

Companies who do both computer and actual engineering, please have a specific filter for the tech kind and don’t lump it all under “engineering”?

A Jimothy shirt was shared from a trivia teammate’s phone at the table tonight. We had not previously discussed Jimothy and yet it was obvious he was the Zeitgeist and there was no other way.
