We are very excited to announce that we have partnered with @newblood.games to bring you a Fallen Aces and MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Steam bundle! ✅ Guns ✅ Gritty noir ✅ Hand-drawn animation ✅ Hard-boiled private detectives ✅ A cool name...
They Will Never Understand off of Map-Center's Quake 30th Anniversary Jam is a wonderful, open-ended map clad in the timeless ikblue texture set. Top notch from start to finish.
Somehow watching Batman Caped Crusader made me want to play Filcher again. Love this game, and it's even better now since you can save your game (though it does lock you out of the max score).
Really enjoying this new season of Batman Caped Crusader
Just had an initial poke around Parkside: Decayed Soul Manipulation. An indie immersive sim I'd had an eye on for a while. It's a bit rough-edged and might need a few patches, but it feels like an interesting halfway point between Deus Ex and Cruelty Squad set in the grim cyberpunk future of 2038.

The new Pigface update erases your previous save but who cares? It's fucking Pigface of course I'm gonna replay the campaign. I really like these remixed levels, they're essentially harder variants of the story levels with randomized objectives.
No longer content with pillaging intellectual work and dismembering our environment (already critically weakened), AI companies are now hellbent on destroying books galore including rare editions. Shut down these nefarious enterprises already.
AI labs buy, scan, shred millions of rare books
If you have retreated to physical books because the internet is too full of AI slop, bad news — now they’re shredding the books to feed their AI slop machines.

Fallen Aces' Episode 2 Chapter 3 is incredible. Might be my favorite mission in the whole game so far.
Allow me to surf on the very talented Nicolas Delort surfing on Odyssey hype to mention that my Thief 2 FM Reflections In Red started as a doodle on DromEd based on this specific piece, and then grew into an absurd castle overlooking a lake. bsky.app/profile/skac... bsky.app/profile/skac...

Oh I am so ready for this. Remixed levels, a new level, and equipment crafting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLmW...

To elaborate on the rocket; since we had to adhere to 1996 limits we couldn't do crazy stuff. The rocket is a func_door and the explosions are info_notnull triggered at timed intervals and placed in the world synced with the func_door's speed value. I am delighted that people love it. 🥹
I'm very happy people love the rocket in Tremor's E1M1. I had a lot of fun making that one. Based on @johnromero.bsky.social's ICBM idea for Quake way back when.

Not as outwardly impressive as, say, Brutalist Jam 3, but Tremor just launched - a 'Quake like Id did' full campaign, filtering modern design through roughly the same software limits the original developers did. Some top talent from across the Quake scene involved in this one.

This little project that was supposed to be out in a year is out now, 6 years later. It took a while but it’s great. It’s a whole new full length campaign for Quake with 32 maps and a completely new soundtrack, aimed at being compatible with winquake. I made a few maps for it. youtu.be/ViJMgLNLW08

I am here for it. As someone who was introduced to GITS through the PS1 game and the manga first (much too young), it's about time we had an adaptation in its style. It goes without saying that I am also a huge fan of Oshii's two films, as well as Stand Alone Complex (especially the first series).
Ghost In The Shell Fans Who Never Read The Manga Are Very Confused By The New Hornier Adaptation:
GOG has updated Thief Gold to allow users to play Thief: The Dark Project of Thief Gold, which is really damn cool considering TDP was impossible to obtain digitally for ages. Do note that an overwhelming amount of Fan Missions for Thief 1 are made with Gold, so they won't work with TDP.
This is an incredible run. 4-player co-op all bosses (including Shadow of the Erdtree). Highly recommended. 4 insanely good players, lots of funny moments and great commentary. www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0kR...

That AAA developers don't play or like games. I don't even know where to begin with that one, it's just patently false. I know plenty of people personally who play some really obscure indie games and who are really passionate about them.
game devs: what are the myths that a lot of players of games think are true about making games that are completely untrue? If you could snap your fingers and they suddenly all knew the truth about it what would it be?
That we see other developers from other studios as rivals. That was a very prevalent discourse when Elden Ring or Clair Obscur released. We don't. We love when games are successful. I do not know a single designer who didn't gush about Elden Ring, especially its level design.

That only a handful of people are the reason why a game is good, and that if they leave then it means all the talent has left somehow.

This. This is why posts like "this mod blows this game out of the water/is better than any game coming out today" irk me to no end. Having done both, I can say without a doubt that games and mods are fundamentally different.
it isn't fair to hold commercial game devs to the same standards as hobbyists. hobbyists have... -however long of a timetable they want -no expectations other than their own -unique financial circumstances this results in a fundamentally different kind of art, and one an industry cannot depend on
With all of that stuff going on I managed to completely miss that our cops have essentially a license to kill with a new law that was passed today. You essentially have to prove that a cop who shot you wasn't acting in self-defense now. What a wonderful country.
I'm very sorry to announce that I was one of the devs affected by the Obsidian layoffs today. At least for four years, it was a beautiful dream. If you need a writer with experience in everything from the fog of war to romance - especially if you're open to remote - please get in touch.
