Fun fact (not) : after the 2018 Toronto attack, where a lookist (incel) militant killed 11 and injured 15, Ross Douthat penned an opinion piece where he leaned into incel propaganda and advocated for a 'fairer' distribution of women's bodies among men.
' "Ross is one of the preeminent public intellectuals in America today, a thinker of uncommon rigor and a journalist of deep empathy," Bilton said. ' So those are words that have happened. www.cbsnews.com/news/60-minu...
not quite melee not quite mage: RED MAGE a new sexual identity emerges
otakon is this weekend and i didn’t realize it was basically gonna be fanfest part 2
I simply must share this amazing video clip of @sisterhyde.bsky.social walking us thru her process of picking the GORGEOUS colors and fonts for the upcoming @criterion.bsky.social Kubrick box set She is my new hero:
i wish one direction still existed so i could sell my dad to them
"if i [lesbian] like female characters Too much or talk or make stuff about them Too much what if other people think i am a misogynist or a freak or no better than a straight man" let them
i think what bugs me when the yearly "why is m/m so popular" debate comes up is that people inevitably are like "well it makes me uncomfortable when misogyny is done on a woman so doing it on a man makes me feel Safe" as if queer men aren't also impacted by misogyny in the form of homophobia
i said this on the other site but where the viewpoint of people who mostly immerse themselves in m/m and m/f badly falls apart in their talking-from-ignorance of f/f is that they do the traditional think of calling lesbians and trans women "basically men"
Just saw Western animation and itchio described as "masculine spaces" in contrast to ao3 and the publishing industry as "feminine spaces" to explain why f/f happens more in the former than the latter. Tell me more about how male-socialized lesbianism is
>get to copperbell mines >realize ul'dah used to have legal slavery and their "resolution" of a slave revolt in the mines was to just cave the enslaved giants in >no one thought the giants were still alive >THEY'RE MAD NOW
i’ve been replaying the ffxiv msq on an alt because i admittedly blasted through it the first time and i kinda forgot just how racist toward the tribes they were in ARR. like omg DON’T call them fishbacks bro…!
to add: it is of course true that "just because some people in the ancient world were disgruntled with slavery / imperialism / gender based violence doesn't mean they were mad at these things for Your Reasons". but that's just more overlap between their world and ours! bsky.app/profile/oluf...
imo it's almost certainly false that people did not have critiques and concerns with sexual violence, slavery etc that at the very least substantively overlap with modern ones. whether or not they got to write epics revered and remembered by the leaders of the slave societies of the day es otra cosa
in case of an emergency it is so so so important to have your legal documents in order (advance directive, power of attorney, will, the works) but i also cannot stress enough how important it is that someone. Anyone. knows Where To Find Them. Please.
Friendly suggestion to my fellow accounts with decent followings: it is a GREAT time to start a weekly art show with your account to boost indie artists/crafters. Everyone is struggling due to AI and Etsy becoming a toilet. We can't magically fix everything but we can help some individuals.
Once a quirky bastion of amateur vulva jewelry and pet portraits, Etsy is now deluged with mass-produced goods and AI knockoffs. Some customers don’t seem to mind.
there are salient points brought up in the review especially regarding the ethics of where it was shot but i feel like that's such a minor part of the overall review and it's so frustrating seeing it get shared around when it's not a very good film review. despite being for a film.
I don't disagree with some of the criticisms—Nolan’s women are always underwritten and positioned to be aids and helpers of Great Men—but the back half of this review is just about things that happen in The Odyssey that aren’t in the movie, and not *what is in the movie.*
It’s honestly kind of funny that Emily Wilson’s review of Nolan’s Odyssey ends up doing the same thing right wing reactionaries do, which is castigate it for not being accurate to the text
i can’t believe you guys are making me feel bad for christopher nolan. wtf lol
I know I'm not on here often, but Ive been having trouble gaining new customers. I've been behind on money since the beginning of the year, and the past few comms have gone towards paying people back. Any help is appreciated, as I am very embarrassed about this. ko-fi.com/grouponlobot...
