Bloke who likes East Asian politics and older videogames. Very tired. From UK but lives in Japan.

I swear that half the "Don't do this thing in Japan" videos that keep popping up are part of some psyop or are an inside joke on a forum somewhere. "In Japan, never hand money directly to a shop assistant as it is rude." I guess every single person in my town is rude then.

A great reminder that all you will ever need is an RX 580 or a GTX 1660 super, just because everything that came afterwards were the enablers of evil. And yes, I do realise that as someone who has multiple systems where an RX 6500 XT is the lowest card I'm a hypocrite.

Not to try and curse things, but the last time I saw this many beloved folks die in a short time period was late 2015 and early 2016. Shortly afterwards Trump 1.0 and Brexit happened.

No Stream it seems this week. Less because I don't want to. More because I forgot and I feel burnt out by work this week. Anyhow, more Caesar's Revenge next week.

This weekend in games: Twisted Tower - Not bad, but not exactly my cup of tea. I'm not a big Bioshock fan. MeoWGun - Kinda fun Y2K feeling FPS. Not world changing, but has the sauce. Cicadamata - My face has been melted off due to extreme style. Can see this getting really good.

Opp? Small earthquake. Always interesting when I notice a smaller, sub 4 Richter scale one. Usually just sitting down (because I sure as hell am not noticing one standing and walking) and then thinking "what's that?" and then looking around at things that can sway and notice the extent.

I think Doom The Dark Ages is getting the Final Fantasy IX effect ongoing: On release people said it was the worst of the series and was a step down. Then, when more folks played it, they came to appreciate it for what it is as opposed to what they expected.

Finally beat Dark Ages after exactly 253 final bosses Phenomenal game overall. Excited to get to the DLC but I'm going to play a few other things first (like Control)

One emerging annoying thing I've seen with Japanese right wing rumors I've seen repeatedly of late: "Foreigners in Japan who have been working here for years are now retiring and taking tax payers money for pensions." Bitch, we ARE tax payers. I pay into the pension each month!

I've been sort of predicting this would happen for a couple of years now. Trump seems to not understand the actual American need for things like this. There is a strongman image, but if you understand anything about power projection and global defence, this is an utterly backward move.

NEWS: Trump says he has ordered Pete Hegseth to “substantially reduce” joint U.S.-South Korea military exercises, citing his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Trump says he is helping North Korea because South Korea refused to join his failed war against Iran.

The whiplash I'm getting from the weather here is kinda extreme. One minute it's pissing it down with horrendous storms. Then it looks like the attached picture. Then horrid storms again a couple of hours later.

Blue skies above Yokosuka.

Every time I see unhinged statements from tech CEOs, I just read them in a very New York accent and envision them to look like the following figures:

A Glukkon executive from Oddworld.Three Glukkon executives from the Oddworld series.

Silent Hill, like Resident Evil, has the dubbing in English while the subtitles are Japanese. It's interesting while playing to compare the two on the fly. It's the old 'localisation vs translation' debate, but with localisation in motion before your eyes and ears. Very good I'd say.
